ProTek RC High Voltage Rechargeable AAA NiZn Batteries (4) (1.6V/900mWh) (Mini-Z)
About this part
Compact in Size, Big on Performance!
These ProTek RC High Voltage Rechargeable AAA Nickel-Zinc (NiZn) Batteries are designed for high-performance applications such as the Kyosho Mini-Z series, but can also work with a wide range of electronics. NiZn batteries have a higher voltage compared to standard nickel-metal (NiMH) or nickel-cadmium (NiCD) batteries, providing more power and improving overall top speed compared to standard batteries. Designed with a standard AAA size and the ability to be recharged, the ProTek RC NiZn AAA batteries are the perfect cost-effective choice for demanding AAA needs.
About the Rechargeable AAA Batteries
Application
These batteries are designed for high-performance applications, making them the perfect choice for Kyosho Mini-Z platforms. The combination of high performance and sustainability, along with the high voltage rating, perfectly compliments the mini RC cars by providing an excellent runtime, meaning less time spent switching out batteries and more time to race! While these batteries are designed for the Mini-Z platforms, they can be used on a multitude of applications including everyday household electronics such as flashlights, speakers, and more.
Cost Effective & Eco-Conscious
These rechargeable batteries offer significant benefits over traditional disposable batteries. One of the primary advantages is their cost-effectiveness as they can be recharged and reused, leading to substantial savings over the long run. This reusability also contributes to environmental sustainability, as it reduces the number of single-use batteries that end up in landfills, decreasing harmful waste and resource consumption. The convenience of being able to recharge batteries at home also means fewer trips to the store to buy more, adding to the practicality and user-friendliness. Overall, the rechargeable benefits make these batteries an ideal choice for both frequent and casual users, providing a more eco-conscious and economical power solution.
Nickel-Zinc Benefits
NiZn batteries are known for their higher voltage compared to NiMH and NiCD batteries. This higher voltage can translate into improved performance and speed. NiZn batteries also have a lower self-discharge rate, meaning they retain their charge longer when not in use, which is convenient for devices that aren't used frequently. While they do have a slightly lower energy density than NiMH batteries, their ability to deliver a more consistent voltage under load often results in more reliable performance in demanding applications.
Features:
- Reliable performance in demanding applications
- Environmentally friendly and cost-effective

Total fail. Bought 7 packs of these for my mini z's and charged with ISDT smart chargers. Uncertain if due to ISDT charger's NiZn mode not working or these batteries, but cars would run 5-10 minutes and die. Switched to ECO Power NiHM rechargeables and the cars have been perfect. After less then a week even the labels on these batteries started peeling off. Will be dropping them off at local recycling center.
Ordered 2 packs....these things are the biggest pieces of junk. They are terrible, last about 2 minutes in a kyosho MR04 on a full charge. Complete waste of time and money considering I purchased a charger specifically for these as well.
I just got two Mini Z’s for my son & I for Christmas. I’ve always had good luck with Protek & after seeing these on the website, they seemed like the battery to have, so I purchased 6 sets of 4. My son just opened his for Christmas, so I just threw some alkaline batteries in the cars while these NiZn’s went on the charger to be sure they were peaked & the cars worked great. After killing the Alkalines I installed the Proteks & went back out to the track for another run. They both ran great for 10 seconds, then slowed & died. Switched to another set of Protek’s in both cars & the same thing happened. Switched back to alkalines & ran an entire session. After doing a little research, I think that even though these batteries are marketed for the mini Z, their voltage is too high & the cars electronics don’t like them. Absolutely worthless & now I have $66 worth of tv remote batteries so I should be good for the next 34 years
Batteries aren’t very good! They’re a tiny bit faster/quicker than the gensace but only hold a charge for a short time! For reference I run my mini z on a smaller track average time is 7-8 second laps I can run 300+ laps on the gensace while the proteks have about 50 laps in them plastic casings also coming off after about 5 uses!
Junk. Bad right out of the box. Last about 45 seconds then completely die. Ive tried activation charging and slow charging it doesnt matter. Do not buy.
Of 15 reviews, most rate these ProTek NiZn AAA batteries 1/5 (about 11 reviews at 1 to 2 stars). Reviewers commonly report short run times, often from a few minutes to around 10 to 20 laps, and a rapid drop in performance over successive cycles. Several say they performed worse than NiMH or NiCd alternatives, and some report cells failing after one week or losing charge quickly. Some note that the dedicated ProTek charger gave misleading readings, and that charge times were long on other chargers. Two reviews at 5/5 praise a strong power boost for Mini-Z cars, including modified ones, though one of these notes older models struggled after about 10 laps. Reviewers mention peeling labels and casings coming off in some cases. Overall sentiment is strongly negative, and the reviews are consistent in describing short life rather than…
- + Strong power boost for modified Mini-Z cars
- + Fast quick-charge performance reported by some
- + Noticeable speed increase over stock batteries
- − Short run time, often minutes or 10 to 20 laps
- − Performance drops quickly over cycles
- − Cells weaken fast and need frequent regrouping
- − Poor value compared with NiMH or NiCd alternatives
