I have been using this starterbox over a year now to start my KYOSHO V-ONE R4 EVO3, and it works perfectly. It won’t start the other reviewers same chassis make as mine because of misalignment, he didn’t correctly line up the flywheel with the starter wheel so that’s not a very fair review he’s giving due to his own mistake. I use it for my Kyosho, my 1/10 infinity and my 1/8 infinity. Works great and no problems over a year now, still using the same starter wheel it came with. And the other low star review is someone trying to use it for an off-road vehicle, come on, read the title it specifically says ON-ROAD starter. 2 bad reviews for human error.
I purchased this for the associated RC10 GT. This will not work for the RC10GT the wheel is not proud enough or standing above the deck. Make sure to check your belt alignment on the box. Mine was out considerably and there's no adjustment. The belt would have came off of the wheel side if it wasn't for the fact that it's hitting the case. A main is awesome to work with returned it no problems.
Absolute piece of crap. Spoke to Amains help before purchasing this for my Kyosho V-ONE R4 Evo.3 and wanted to make sure it was compatible with my car. They assured me it was, but it isn't. Not only that, it doesn't even come with a bottom plate to protect the inner electronics and motor. It was delivered today and im sending it back today. It states its for 1/8 and 1/10 onroad nitro, but it isn't even compatible with my 1/10 nitro car. Now I understand why its so cheap... Don't recommend anyone buying this starter box.
The quality of the box appears to be decent, and the price is good. my issue is that you can not shift the starter wheel location for 1/8 onroad like you can on the hudy. It does not have the spacers built in to do that. So, this would probably be fine for 1/10 nitro touring car. It might work for 1/8 with some fiddling and relocating of pins, but i did not want to mess with it so i just got another hudy. Only other complaint is the feet are hard plastic, not rubber which can allow it to slide around. Its close, but it needs more refinements. This one will have to go back to Amain.
Reviews are mixed, with ratings from 1 to 5 across four reviews. One reviewer reports reliable use for over a year with a Kyosho V-ONE R4 EVO3 and 1/10 and 1/8 infinity chassis. Other reviewers report alignment problems: one says the starter wheel does not stand proud of the deck for an Associated RC10 GT and belt alignment was off with no adjustment, another says the unit was incompatible with their Kyosho V-ONE R4 Evo.3 and lacked a bottom plate, and a fourth says the starter wheel cannot be shifted for 1/8 on-road and the plastic feet can slide. Compatibility with specific chassis appears to be the recurring concern. One reviewer attributes a low rating to user alignment error and another to off-road use, which the title states is not intended. Two reviews were returned or are being returned.
