The wheel that comes on this starter box is horrible. It blew off all the rubber with in a day of use to the point where it had to remove the guides to get the wheel to hit my flywheel. Massively regret buying this, usually protek stuff is good. They really need to use a harder rubber and make it so you can adjust the wheel height
Just bought the prostart starter and used it to start my new engine to break it in. After only 10 starts the rubber wheel was worn down. The rubber feels too soft. I purchased 2 more replacement wheels and if they wear down as fast as the original one did then I will buy a pull start or a drill starter.. Not happy with the soft rubber wheel but The engine is new OS .21 samari so Mabye it was just too much friction for the starter wheel.. Never the less the rubber is way too soft..
By far the softest starter box wheel I have ever encountered. Burned through 2 brand new wheels in one day trying to break in a motor.
Pros: this wheel is cheap and easy to replace. Cons: it's currently backordered. It's also a super soft rubber. The protek box itself is great. Usually their stuff is better than their price point. This time though, a $5 wheel is exactly that, a cheap wheel. The Mugen wheel fits the protek box. Ultimate starter wheels also fit.
great starter box! just not the rubber wheel break in O.S engine the rubber was chewed up by the end of the day
Reviewers are divided on this replacement wheel. Most of the negative reviews report that the rubber is too soft and wears quickly, with some wheels worn down within a day or after about 10 starts, particularly when breaking in new engines. Several reviewers say they would prefer a harder rubber or an adjustable wheel height, and one mentions the Mugen wheel as an alternative that fits. Positive reviews describe long service life for older wheels, and some note the wheel is inexpensive and easy to replace, with good fit. Reviewers note that the starter box itself is praised, and that one reviewer reported the wheel was backordered at the time of purchase. One reviewer reported that a long-lasting wheel came with a previous harder rubber formulation, suggesting the rubber hardness may have changed over time.
