Like the other reviews say, this thing doesn't work well or consistent enough to actually use for gluing up tires. Don't make the same mistake I did,
The concept is good but you need a third hand to use it. I messed up a pair of wheels with it and found I could do a better job without it.
Its a good concept but the actual gluing is challenging. Like others said, you need a 3rd hand. Its much easier to do without. Either the bead is open to much and doesn't go back correctly or the bead is too small and slips off the opener. Frustrating at times. I tried many times and found it easier to do by hand. Save your money.
I messed with this thing for over an hour. I could have glued up 4 sets of tires in the time it took me to mess with this contraption. Gluing tires by hand it is for me.
It’s quite challenging to get set up properly so that the tire bead sits back in place. I plan to camp it to my workbench, or I’d need a third hand. I’m going to need to keep notes so I can quickly switch between different tires. I think it’s going to be a great little jig. I’ll update my review if I have problems glueing
Reviewers largely find the Raceform Lazer 1/10 Buggy Tire Gluing Jig difficult to use. Most critics say it needs a third hand, that bead alignment is hard to get right, and that hand gluing is quicker or easier. One reviewer reported ruining a pair of wheels with it. The main points of disagreement come from a 4/5 reviewer who expects it to work well once set up, planning to clamp it to a workbench and keep notes for different tires, and a 5/5 reviewer who glued two sets of buggy wheels and needed only a slight bead wheel adjustment for 2WD tires. Several reviews are unverified or lack detail, so the overall picture is mostly negative.
- + Good concept
- + Worked well for one reviewer with 2WD tires after a slight bead wheel adjustment
- − Needs a third hand to use
- − Bead hard to align; can open too much or slip off the opener
- − Slower and more awkward than hand gluing for most reviewers
- − Some reviewers messed up wheels
