About the AX12 Android Transmitter

Android-Powered Innovation

At the heart of the AX12 is RadioMasterOS, an Android 9.0-based system that transforms the transmitter into a fully functional smart device. With Google Play certification and APK sideloading support, users can install compatible apps for configuration, telemetry, and mission planning directly on the radio. This seamless integration allows for a more streamlined workflow, eliminating the need for additional devices in the field. The open app ecosystem gives users the freedom to customize their experience like never before.

High-Performance Hardware & Display

The AX12 is equipped with an octa-core processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage, ensuring smooth multitasking and responsive performance. Its 5.5-inch HD IPS touchscreen delivers crisp visuals with 1280×720 resolution and 1000 nits brightness, making it easy to view even in direct sunlight. The responsive touch interface simplifies navigation and adjustments, while the X5 Hall-effect gimbals provide ultra-precise, contactless control. Together, these features create a premium user experience both on the ground and in action.

Advanced Control & Connectivity

Built around ExpressLRS technology, the AX12 offers full 16-channel control with low latency and exceptional link reliability. The integrated LR1121 module supports both 2.4GHz and Sub-G 900MHz operation, along with Wi-Fi OTA updates for convenience. Advanced mixing, custom curves, and flexible channel mapping give users complete control over their setups. With HDMI input/output, MAVLink passthrough, and extensive connectivity options including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and USB-C, the AX12 is ready for everything from FPV flying to robotics and beyond.

Nope, not ready for prime time. I bought it just to see if I can get away without using an Android tablet to use QGround Control while flying Ardupilot. I didn't even get that far. I want to do baby step to learn the new so called Radiomaster OS first. I managed to get ExpressLRS upgraded firmware and set to my own bind phrase so I can connect to my fleet. I also managed to download the QGround Control software from the Radiomaster website and installed it on the Android side. I setup a simple 65mm quad just to test. Baby step. The Radiomaster OS is very cumbersome. From someone using EdgeTx, this version of Radiomaster OS is not easy to use. The worst part is that the data I input did not take. I am flipping between the Output and Mixes pages and the data kept on changing. Even after I continue to click Save. Took a long time to setup a simple machine. I kept on losing rudder, channel 5 for arming and channel 6 for mode switching. Also when I switch between the pages the various "curve" number kept on showing up. Something like CV128. There is no CV128 curve! So it is a cheap transmitter but not at all ready to fly a more expensive machine. I have not even touch the Android side of the program yet.
