Freaking awesome, very fast and large, handles really amazing. I’m knocking a star because even though it’s only 4s and cheaper, the ESC is WAY too small and overheats after even a regular bash session. They could make it a Hobbywing max8 for the 4s and still keep it the same price, does come with the updated a arms in the box along with the non updated ones, so you essentially have spares

This truck left me perplexed. I have driven it maybe 15-20 times, and I can't say that I love it. The 4s power system seems a tad under powered in grass but on pavement it performs well. The Machete does NOT like jumping though. The chassis bottoms out easily as it has a relatively low ride height and ended up knocking the motor loose from the motor mount from a 7 foot high jump. This as an onroad basher on 4s seems like where it's most at home. If you're looking for something that can handle jumping though I would recommend the Valkyre 4s Platform from Redcat compared to a Machete 4S. less weight and much better durability.

I got this on-sale for $270 shipped. Killer deal. I have only run a half a 4cell 9000mah battery through it so far (insert big time cartwheel crash) and it's fast enough for what it is. My 1st crash musta tweeked the chassis a tiny bit because I can't see or measure it but the steering was binding. After much deduction I shimmed one corner of steering/bulkhead to chassis connection with a thin hard plastic piece(like two layers of electrical tape thick is all and its all better. Gotta watch those steering link windows on the Mashitty, they are tight and not what we RCers are used to. Anyways, I am always happy with AMain and overall the truck and I are getting along for now. If I had the chance to buy again at that price, I'd buy two. Just beware if you are trying to bash it out with a XMaxx and a UDR, they are way tougher but 4 times the money.

I personally love the machete MT, I believe it to be the best large scale truggy redcat has to offer. I have high hopes for this model and hope that the aftermarket support team grows with it. My truck arrived flawless ready to run. i would recommend going through this R.C. To check fluids and bolts that require Loctite. Require. To be honest it’s a lot of truck for the price.

Haven't had a chance to run yet. V2 comes with the updated arms and driveshaft. Finally getting a chance to run it tomorrow and will write new review. So far the best $400 I've spent in a while from the looks and quality.

What reviewers say

Reviewers generally find the Redcat Machete 4S 1/6 RTR monster truck fast, large and good value for the price, with one reviewer noting the truck arrived ready to run. Recurring criticisms include an undersized ESC that overheats in regular bashing, and a low ride height that causes the chassis to bottom out, with one owner reporting a loose motor after a large jump. Some reviewers noted that the 4S system feels underpowered on grass but performs well on pavement, and that it suits on-road bashing best. Other complaints concern the lack of included tools and a plain shipping box. One owner reported steering binding after a crash and fixed it with a shim. One reviewer said the truck includes updated arms, and one reviewer had not yet run it. Reviews are mixed, with several 3- and 4-star ratings.

  • + Fast and large, with good handling
  • + Strong value for the price
  • + Arrives ready to run
  • + Includes updated and original arms
  • − ESC overheats during regular bashing
  • − Chassis bottoms out and motor can loosen on big jumps
  • − Underpowered on grass with 4S
  • − No tools included, plain shipping box
