This review has no bearing on amain or their great customer service. Except for the fact that the machine they sold me was over 3 years old. First off when I got the buggy it had a loose flywheel. Secondly upon inspection I noticed the rear outdrive was cracked 3/4 way through. Can't tell you how it runs, but I can tell you it looks cool. Rather sturdy, it's hard to get to the battery box and who ever designed how you fill the gas tank should be terminated immediately. I only gave it 2 stars because right out of the box it's a turd. I will change my review if this thing is a beast and runs awesome. **Update** This car is by far the worst thing I have ever purchased! I have not once gotten to drive it yet. What ever could possibly go wrong did. Bad carb, loose flywheel, cracked drive cup, loose pinion gears. You name it this car has had those problems. So the motor is bad and I will have to purchase a new one. What ever you do, same more money and get a losi. Redcat in my opinion makes the biggest pieces of %~*# on planet earth. I regret buying this and I will never purchase a junk redcat again.
I've had one of these since around 2012 or 13 I've replaced a steering servo and a carb (had it sitting for a few years) it still runs great, bigger engine then my baja 5t right out of the box. I broke the wing mount and cracked the cage next to the windshield opening jumping at my local dirt bike track but have full replacement cage and panel kit waiting to install. I split a drive cup hitting something in deep sand once 20 min fix. Anyone buying this or any other 5th scale should definitely read through the manual first as it's recommended that they be dismantled and loc tight all metal to metal hardware. This also gives you the opportunity to catch and warranty any broken or defective parts. I don't recommend any 5th scale to those who are not mechanically inclined or really enjoy fixing things. The chimera is actually a really fun rc plus with a few parts like body mounts and bumper it can be transformed into a rally car or monster truck. Any issues contact redcat customer service they're pretty good to work with. Ive enjoyed my chimera since day one it sucks this other guy has had such a bad experience but it doesn't seem like he used the right channels to handle his problems. It has risen in price but I would say still definitely worth it wish I could post pictures.
