As much as I want to love this truck I just can’t! This truck has spent more time broken than it has running. Got the car out of the box checked it over to make sure everything was right on it and on the first run less than 2min of run on smooth grass it sheared off one of the screws that holds the hub to the hex and parts were back ordered that were needed to fix. Finally got the back ordered parts, got the car fixed took it out for another run and in the time it took to make one lap around the yard and and hit a small jump (8-10”) tall the car broke the Ackerman in the steering and wouldn’t you know it the parts are backordered????? if I could sent it back I would but it looks like this pile of junk is destined for Facebook marketplace once I get finally get the backordered parts to fix it. Moral of the story is to save your hard earned money and buy something different with better quality and better parts support.

So I bought this with mixed expectations. Redcats have been hit and miss with 75% being miss. This however was a delightful surprise. Ive ran the truck on 2s and 3s and even on 2s it moves pretty good. The top end is on the lower side but it absolutely rips. Its taken a fair amount of abuse without a single part breaking. Now I'm not Kevin Talbot but I've sent it 15ish feet in the air at a construction site hitting larger rocks and weird ruts at full throttle without anything happening to the truck. The body seems to be holding up. I'd say the biggest complaint about the truck would be a slower servo as expected with an RTR and out of the box on 2s and 3s the punch on the ESC is a tad low but being its a hobbywing esc thats easily remedied. Redcat seriously knocked it out the park with this one and I'm used to running Arrma's, Traxxas, and Losi's. 5/5

What reviewers say

Reviewers are divided on the Redcat Valkyrie 1/10 RTR 4WD 4S Brushless Truggy (Blue). One verified owner praises its speed, build quality and durability, reporting no broken parts after heavy jumps and rough use, though the top end on 2S is modest and the steering servo is slower, as expected for an RTR. Another verified owner reports repeated breakage shortly after unboxing, including a sheared hub screw and a broken Ackerman part, with replacement parts on backorder, and says the truck spent more time broken than running. A third reviewer simply calls it fast, well built and worth the price. Reviews are few and two of three are from the same variant, so the overall picture is uncertain.

  • + Fast, strong acceleration
  • + Durable under heavy jumps and abuse
  • + Good build quality and weight
  • − Repeated breakages reported by one owner
  • − Replacement parts backordered
  • − Slow steering servo
  • − Modest top end on 2S
