With finely tuned suspension geometry and precise steering, the Vertex-10 offers a perfect balance of power, durability, and performance for serious rock crawling enthusiasts.
About the Vertex-10
Brushless Power and Precision Electronics
The Vertex-10 is powered by the Hobbywing system, combining a 2812 1700KV brushless motor with a programmable 60A ESC for smooth, efficient, and reliable performance. With 4S capability and an 8.4V BEC, this system delivers exceptional torque and control across challenging terrain. Steering precision comes from the HX-50BL digital servo, featuring durable metal gears and a massive 694oz/in of torque for confident handling. The brushless power system and precision electronics package provide the strength, accuracy, and responsiveness demanded by comp crawling.
Advanced Suspension and Steering Geometry
The Vertex-10 features an advanced suspension and steering system designed for smooth articulation and precise control. Air emulsion, oil-filled shocks with X-ring seals deliver consistent damping and durability across rugged terrain. Double CV joints provide ultra-smooth articulation, even at extreme steering angles, ensuring maximum maneuverability in tight spots. Together, these features create a suspension system that balances durability, flexibility, and precision for serious crawling performance.
Durability
The Vertex-10 is built on a low center of gravity carbon chassis with a forward-mounted motor, delivering stability and strength on demanding terrain. Reinforced solid axles with steel internal tube inserts provide exceptional durability, while hypoid-style ring and pinion gears increase ground clearance and allow the axle housing to slide smoothly over obstacles. Splined metal driveshafts ensure a constant, reliable connection, with angled ends designed to clear rocks and uneven terrain. High-clearance rear links, adjustable suspension geometry, and a tilt body mounting system further enhance toughness and performance. Combined, these features create a crawler that's engineered to withstand extreme conditions while maintaining precision and control.

The Vertex 10W is one of the best RTR crawlers of 2026! I am very happy with this truck; preforms great right out of the box and the build quality is excellent! The electronics that are included are great and work extremely well with this chassis (especially impressed with the servo for it being a stock servo). The stock tires are pretty good as well although they are worth upgrading down the line. I am making this review shortly after the truck was released so there is some small issues like the transmission clicking and the screws that hold the axle tubes in. Both of these issues are easily fixed and redcat support can assist, I would imagine these issues will be fixed with later production models. Overall I would highly recommend this truck if you are looking for a capable out of the box ready comp crawler!
I’m very happy with the 10w. It doesn’t disappoint. No leaky shocks, nothing weird. The steering is very impressive, it’s great that it comes with a brushless servo. Did a little bolder crawling. I’m not that experienced but did a lot of research and I have a 1/28. If I had to get picky, one of the wheels is mounted a little out of line causing it to wobble a little I put an FPV camera on it and drove all over my house and outside. It’s great for that. Would like a gimbal with ht when good a roll cage is available.
This little truck is one of the better crawlers out right now the carbon fiber chassis looks really nice. It comes with soft compound, nice tires, even though I replaced them with different tires and silicone inserts. The motor seems strong and it crawls well. I’m now considering the larger red cat vertex six… some purchasers have noticed a slight clicking sound while the truck is running, but red cat backs their product by shipping out a free shim kit and a new transmission rod along with instructions on how to repair the truck. Should take about a half an hour or 45 minutes, but I like wrenching on this little truck anyway so I’m looking forward to it. A+
All three verified owners rate the Redcat Vertex-10W 5/5 and praise its build quality, brushless servo and crawling performance, with one noting the carbon fiber chassis and strong motor. The stock tires are described as good, though one owner replaced them and suggests upgrading. Recurring issues are a transmission clicking sound, which one owner says is covered by a free shim kit and replacement transmission rod from Redcat, and axle-tube screws that may need attention. One reviewer reported a wheel mounted slightly out of line that causes wobble. Reviews were posted soon after release, so long-term durability is not covered. The reviews refer to the Dark Grey variant with +24mm wide axles.
