About this part

6th Scale Comp Crawler

The Redcat Vertex-6 combines brushless power, durable engineering, and advanced suspension design to take large-scale crawling to the next level. Its electronics deliver smooth, responsive control, while the reinforced chassis and drivetrain provide the strength needed for extreme terrain. With finely tuned suspension geometry and precise steering, the Vertex-6 offers a perfect balance of power, durability, and performance for serious rock crawling enthusiasts.

About the Vertex-6

Brushless Power and Precision Electronics

The Vertex-6 is powered by the Hobbywing Fusion RTR 2-in-1 FOC system, combining a 4269 1800KV brushless motor with a programmable ESC for smooth, efficient, and reliable performance. With 4S capability, advanced FOC technology, and an 8.4V BEC, this system delivers exceptional torque and control across challenging terrain. Steering precision comes from the HX-LS large-scale digital servo, featuring durable metal gears and a massive 972oz/in of torque for confident handling. The brushless power system and precision electronics package provide the strength, accuracy, and responsiveness demanded by large-scale rock crawling.

Advanced Suspension and Steering Geometry

The Vertex-6 features an advanced suspension and steering system designed for smooth articulation and precise control. Air emulsion, oil-filled shocks with X-ring seals deliver consistent damping and durability across rugged terrain. Double CV joints provide ultra-smooth articulation, even at extreme steering angles, ensuring maximum maneuverability in tight spots. Adjustable Ackerman geometry with included tuning blocks allows drivers to fine-tune steering response for optimal handling. Together, these features create a suspension system that balances durability, flexibility, and precision for serious crawling performance.

Durability

The Vertex-6 is built on a low center of gravity chassis with a forward-mounted motor, delivering stability and strength on demanding terrain. Reinforced solid axles with steel internal tube inserts provide exceptional durability, while hypoid-style ring and pinion gears increase ground clearance and allow the diamond-shaped axle housing to slide smoothly over obstacles. Splined metal driveshafts ensure a constant, reliable connection, with angled ends designed to clear rocks and uneven terrain. High-clearance rear links, adjustable suspension geometry, and a tilt body mounting system further enhance toughness and performance. Combined, these features create a crawler that's engineered to withstand extreme conditions while maintaining precision and control.

i had to be first. Number one watch out for red cat customer service, if you get a defective rig you need to document everything they have no problem making you pay money out-of-pocket to fix a brand new vehicle. I told them if they didn't warranty the transmission on a brand new tc8 marksman(an excellent rig by the way) that I would tell everybody I could for the rest of my life to watch out for their customer service. After I bought a transmission on eBay and fixed the truck and spend another hundred dollars, I will always make sure to let people know - watch out for their customer service. The cat needs to fire everybody in that department and hire people who care about RC and their customers. I said it and I mean it. OK now that I got that out of the way LOL you need to get yourself one of these trucks, with two caveats. One you need to have big terrain all around you and too you're gonna be the only one out there with the six scale most likely, so you're gonna need to be comfortable with that. Other than that the best six scale in the market and it's not even close, I was able to crawl over 20 foot wood pile on my test run and that pretty much says everything you need to know. I did buy the axle weights it's and I'm not planning on upgrading anything else. A Main has them listed as rear axle weight but there for the front as well. I used to have the SCX six and sold it because it was so disappointing, I guarantee you I'm never gonna sell this one, it's a man's krawler. Absolutely need to get yourself one you don't need to eat this month. The battery tray design is stupid, it's absolutely just designed for 2200s and that's ridiculous, I will get after them with the Dremel and then I can fit anything, other than that absolutely wonderful design and a killer truck top to bottom. It's very very light but not so much with the axle hangers. Body design is excellent attachment design is excellent overall design is excellent worth every bit of 800 bucks & the way things are going on these days is probably gonna go up not down. I'm really looking forward to crawling season with this bad boy. I have a fusion ascent and it's basically that same exact truck times three, or four.

This truck is the best RTR crawler I have ever had. I’ve owned over 20 crawlers. You don’t have to replace anything out of the box to make it perform. The stock tires are excellent and the stock servo is very good. Redcat has really showed up the last few years. I actually sold my Axial SCX6 to buy this truck. I’ve always been a fan of the larger scale stuff. They are so much easier to work on. The body latch system is also very nice. If I had to make one complaint it would be the stock hardware. I like to take my trucks apart when I first get them. I striped a bunch of screw heads getting it apart and I’m using MIP hand tools which in my opinion are the best tools in RC. I replaced all the stock hardware with cap head screws. I do this to all my trucks. I get all my screws from Amain. There Protek and Eco power screws are excellent and you can’t beat the prices. I would highly recommend this truck.

Without a doubt the most impressive crawler I've owned. Out of the box with weight hangers this thing is HIGHLY impressive. I did find that Redcat needs to apply grease to the gears not the side of the case but, I check this on all new RCs and it's not just them. Most don't come properly lubed. Other than that, this thing has handled anything I've thrown at it, stock tires are impressive, give them a few runs to soften up. 100% recommend this truck if you're looking for a large scale crawler for performance.

What reviewers say

Reviewers, all verified owners rating 5/5, broadly praise the Vertex-6 Crawler's out-of-the-box capability, climbing performance, ground clearance, stock tires and servo, and its on-the-fly overdrive and flexible battery mounting. Several describe it as among the best large-scale or RTR crawlers they have owned. Recurring criticisms include stock hardware that strips easily, gears needing grease at delivery, and a back-ordered accessory part (axle weights). One reviewer reports a defective-unit experience with Redcat customer service, involving a transmission replacement paid out of pocket, which contrasts with the otherwise positive feedback. Overall sentiment is strongly positive, though the review set is small and dominated by enthusiastic ratings.

  • + Strong climbing capability
  • + Good stock tires and servo
  • + Out-of-the-box performance
  • + Overdrive and flexible battery mounting
  • − Stock hardware strips easily
  • − Gears may need grease
  • − Customer service complaint on defective unit
  • − Accessories on back order
