I can't say enough good things about this truck! It's just about everything I wanted out of a truck right out of the box. I run it on a 3s battery and it's a BEAST. It honestly has too much power on 3s and I mean that in a good way. It's fast enough to scare me a bit at full throttle. Jumps like a champ, crawls over all kinds of stuff. It's a fast basher that has the roots of a rock crawler so if you want a speedy truck that can rip donuts and blast jumps but also handle some light crawling then this is your jam. It doesn't have much low end torque with the stock setup so crawling isn't the easiest but it can do a bit and you could always change parts if you want more slow speed control. And rock bouncing? Yeah it likes that. Keep the rpms up and it'll get through one way or another haha. It's not the most stable truck at high speeds but it's so much fun to keep it just on the edge of control. It's not the best in any one category but it might be the best at every category. If you buy this make sure you also have a bottle of tire glue handy because it rips the stock glue job off fast but once you clean and reglue them yourself they're solid. I also recommend ordering a couple of spare pinion gears for the driveshaft as it has enough power to break those if you really beat on it. And check your lug nuts and all other bolts on the truck often. I usually snug the wheels a few times per session and check the servo horn bolt and track bar bolts at the same interval and snug the rest of the bolts every few sessions as I clean it. If you're going to bash on it like I do you're going to break stuff just like anything you beat on so some mechanical knowledge is a good idea but it's a really simple truck so as long as you know lefty loosey righty tighty then you'll be fine. And I personally love that this truck has the power and speed to tear itself up sometimes. Anything less and I'd get bored.
This thing is an unrefined, over powered beast of fun on four wheels. Backend is a little sloppy out of the box. This is not a crawler, low speed modulation is poor due to sensor less, but strap a 50C 3S battery to rip around the backyard. A light kit would be nice for the big headlights, but will be easy enough to make my own. Hopefully, I can take it to the beach some time and open it up.
my purchase with amain was awesome... the product recieved however has its issues... the red cat Wendigo unless you like replacing parts on over powered trucks.. shouldn't be purchased get the red cat marksman n be much happier...
Very impressed with quality of this rc especially for the price .The attention to detail is great, a big step forward for Red Cat.Its a unique drive rock racer crawler hybrid.Lots of fun and so far very reliable.
Awesome starter crawler! Swapped out the tires for softer ones and it will go just about everywhere!
Reviewers generally praise the Wendigo's speed, power and jumping ability, with several describing it as a fun basher with some crawling capability. Opinions diverge on handling and durability. Multiple owners report it tips over easily in tight turns, especially on 3S, and that it is more manageable on 2S. Reported issues include loose set screws, poorly glued tires, sloppy rear end out of the box, weak steering, and bearing or part failures after limited use. Low-speed control is described as poor because of the sensorless system, though one owner found soft tires improved crawling. Some reviewers call it reliable and good value, while others, including one who had a unit arrive broken, recommend against the RTR form. Several owners mention modifying it.
