Installed in Tekno sct410sl… Perfect fit. Wires are overkill for my application but soldered excellent. Very nice fit and finish. Programming with the app and Bluetooth has been seamless. The instructions are average yet reasonably translated from Italian lol. The only issue I can caution against it the tall profile of the wires as they are pre soldered and 10 awg thick. Competing esc’s may offer easier wire routing. Overall performance is excellent with intuitive app interface and solid reliability. Highly recommended.

Great product! It feels so much beefier than the HW. The density of the #10 AWG wires is very impressive. The blue-tooth wireless programming is a breeze from my smart-phone. I was even able to dial it in some from the drivers' stand while parked on pit row. Unreal!

Convenient to setup and view data, provides good power and very nice. Unfortunately using xt60 sized connector terminals coming directly out of the ESC soldered to 10ga wire is a very bad idea. Soldering wires to the edges of the half cup rather than having the wire soldered inside of it is a weak point. It's just an ESC yes, but at this price point I would think it should at least follow electronics industry standards but does not. Update: It appears this ESC may have had a bad batch or is just altogether a poorly made esc. I experienced the same issue as the other review by another user on this site. There has also been other reports from other sites that reported the same issue. I first had issues with the receiver intermittently not getting power (possible servo issue as stated in the other review) then esc after a while smoked and died. Nope it wasn’t an issue with the receiver since it works perfectly fine on another esc.

One of the best ESC's I have ran. The built in Bluetooth programming is extremely simple and easy to set up! After having so many dead units from a few other brands, it has been so nice to have such a stable setup for the big events. I am no longer questioning if the equipment can handle the abuse from some of these very large tracks and 10 minute mains!

What reviewers say

Reviewers generally praise the REDS 1/8 Z8 Pro Gen3 220A ESC's Bluetooth app programming, which several describe as simple and seamless, along with its build quality and strong power delivery. Multiple owners report good reliability at race events, and one notes it is a solid upgrade over previous brands. The main recurring concern is the pre-soldered 10 AWG wires: they are described as thick and tall, making routing difficult, and one reviewer reports the wire-to-ESC solder joints failed. That reviewer also reports a second unit developing a fault, and says a similar issue was reported elsewhere, suggesting a possible quality issue. One reviewer had the ESC fail after about a dozen races, with the servo misbehaving first. Reviews are few and mostly positive, with the reliability criticism coming from a single detailed account.

  • + Easy Bluetooth app programming
  • + Strong power delivery
  • + Solid build and fit
  • + Reliable at race events
  • − Thick pre-soldered wires hard to route
  • − Wire solder joints reported to fail
  • − Reported early failure in one unit
  • − Instructions average
