This servo is impressive its build and function are so robust and is worth every penny! I installed it in a Ryft for a 2 speed shift and worked perfectly that said it has such a wide range of voltage you dont have to worry about your radio system running over voltage as this is high voltage and is FAST . I recommend this to anyone who needs a small micro servo in ANY application .
It's a nice servo, but do not put it in a mini B or T. They tell you it has metal gears, but they don't tell you that the metal is brass. Had to send it to reefs and pay thirty bucks for another gear set. They would not warranty it, even tho I told them I had it in a mini crawler.
This servo may be great in some applications, but combined with a Vanquish Hurts Dig...it burnt out the internal gears within 2 batteries (and I run a servo saver). Yes, my end points were set. But like most dig units, the cogs don't always align without some movement of the rig. That short delay appeared to be too much for this thing. I wouldn't recommend a micro servo unless you want to be replacing them often.
This thing has torque. It is great. I am using it for a steering servo on SCX24 builds I am doing. (4 now) They have multiple mounting holes on the tab, the tabs are easily modified and they work great. They would be overkill on a stock rig, but my builds tend to be heavy. (Going for scale not performance) The builds I am making outweigh the stock SCX24 by more than Double. I am putting diecast bodies on them with brushless motors. The power of this servo can handle the added weight and forces I put on them.
Reef is by far my favorite servo. I have used Reef servos for the past 4 or 5 years and have had great luck with them. If you have never used one, try them out.
Eight reviews, mostly from verified owners, give this high-voltage metal gear micro servo a mixed-to-positive picture. Several reviewers praise its speed, torque and strength in applications such as scale SCX24 builds, shift servos and heavy-weight rigs, and two describe long-term loyalty to the brand. Criticism centres on gear failures: one reviewer reports the gears burning out in a Vanquish Hurts Digital rig after two batteries and attributes it to a short delay from cog alignment, another reports broken gears in under one battery pack in a Losi NASCAR, and a third reports brass rather than steel gears causing failure in a mini crawler, with warranty refused. Reviewers disagree on durability, with some reporting no issues at all, and the set is small.
- + Fast response time
- + Strong torque for heavy builds
- + Multiple mounting holes on tab
- + Works well in SCX24 steering
- − Gears failed in some installations
- − Brass gears, not steel, in some reports
- − Warranty refused in one case
- − Possible sensitivity with digital units
