Ruddog RP540 540 Sensored Brushless Motor (17.5T)
About this part
The RUDDOG RP540 sensored competition brushless motor was developed using the latest technology in terms of manufacturing and production of competition grade motors. Weighing in at a lightweight 170g the motor is made using highest grade materials including Japan-made steel stator plates and high-temperature 99.9% pure copper wire. Large venting openings improve cooling and provide constant performance over the full run, even in hot conditions. The silver can color looks good on, and off the track.

Not bad a bad motor for 60 bucks. It isn't what my schuurspeed 17.5 motors are, but these are good for practice or just bashing imo. My only complaint is the solder tabs seem flimsy and can move under pressure. I'll update this when I get some more time on the motor. UPDATE: Don't think this can be beat for the money. It's 90% of what the high end motors are imo. It's slightly heavier than the new ultra light motors 10-20 grams.
Standard test with the SkyRC Motor Analyzer: Max KV @2208, RPM @ 17,890, 1.2A. Timing Average: 24 degree (27/20/26). Peak 085 dB. Weight was 173g. Box contained nice foam padding not shown in video. Limited on track runs, but so far I've been pleased with top speed and quickness, with no heating issues. Nice club motor.
This is a very fast motor, more than enough for my beginner skill set. I kinda feel I should have bought a 21.5T. The leads are accessible and supported by heat-resistant fiberglass, unlike the melty plastic surrounding the leads on the motor that I never even got to use.
Very slow motor. By far the slowest at my local track. Messed with timing and gearing and couldn't get any performance out of it.
Four verified owners reviewed the 17.5T sensored 540 motor. Three rated it 5/5, praising its speed, value for around $60, and overall performance for practice and bashing; one reviewer noted it is slightly heavier than ultra-light motors and another found the lead support solid. Reviewers mention flimsy solder tabs that can move under pressure. One reviewer reported measured figures including about 17,890 RPM and a weight of 173g, and noted no heating issues. The single 2/5 review described the motor as very slow at a local track despite timing and gearing changes. Reviewers disagree on performance, and the sample is small.
