The cougar classic is built on an aluminum chassis with independent front and rear suspension. Aluminum front and rear shocks can be tuned using provided shims. Nice classic RC with the quality of Schumacher Racing!

Excellent classic buggy at a great price. With the price of vintage rerelease buggys going up, this is a real bargain for a car that is well made, competitive and parts availability is good too. Would definitely recommend. And they won’t be around for much longer I reckon, although Schumacher is known for keeping spare parts available for years. Only negative: the stock transmission is rated for 17.5 turn max, and the upgrade is costly.

More similar to Kyosho than Tamiya. It is an intersting build and design. The materials are very nice. It looks the part as well.

What reviewers say

All three reviewers rate the Schumacher Cougar Classic 1/10 2WD Buggy Kit five out of five. Reviewers describe it as a well-made classic buggy with good materials and a convincing look, and one notes it is competitive and priced well relative to other vintage re-release buggies. One comparison places its build and design closer to Kyosho than Tamiya. A single reviewer notes that spare parts are readily available and that Schumacher has a record of supporting parts for years. The only drawback raised is that the stock transmission is rated for a maximum of 17.5 turns, and the upgrade is expensive. The review set is small, so the picture is limited.

  • + Well-made, good-quality materials
  • + Convincing classic look
  • + Good value for money
  • + Parts availability
  • − Stock transmission rated for 17.5 turns max
  • − Transmission upgrade is costly
