About the SRX8-E RTR

Powerful Electronics

Serpent wants to give you the power to either bash in the backyard or get out on the track and compete. The buggy is powered by a 120A ESC that features a built in cooling fan for added thermal protection. High quality wire ensures consistent power delivery. The motor is a brushless 1900kV beast built for all out torque and blistering speeds.

Durable Drivetrain

The full time 4WD uses CVD driveshafts connecting to large volume differentials. Hardened steel differential couplers with oversized bearings ensure both durability and efficiency. The buggy uses MOD 1.0 gear pitch to reliably transfer power to the ground. The final drive of this buggy gives you great torque to get the holeshot but will also provide great speed to race to the finish line.

Performance Suspension

The suspension has been built to ensure that this buggy is at home either on the track or out in the park. Large, 16mm shocks are coupled to 4mm shock ends to give you super smooth and durable dampening. Sway bars found front and rear are designed to have little friction while providing incredible stability.

Ricardo Springs IIVerified owneron Serpent SRX8-E RTR 1/8 Off-Road Electric Buggy

Buggy arrived packaged very well. Box suspension setup felt stiff. Opened the 3 diffs before running; diff oils are too light for my tastes & needed more oil. Tires are amazing, electronics & radio are great for RTR car. Reccomend going over car BEFORE driving. Performance is AWESOME. Acceleration/speed is great, servo/turning points can be adjusted from radio end points. I have esc calibration tool--- adjusted brake, punch, LVC, drag brake settings provides better driving experiences. I bought Cobra 811te RTR last year & very happy with that. Serpent America has parts support from Florida (I'm in CA) takes 5-7 days to arrive with UPS ground. I'd reccomend the Serpent RTR 1/8th truggys or buggys. Fantastic quality, good parts support (for me) from amain, Revelation Raceway (30 miles from me) and Serpent America. I mostly hard bash the truggy & light bash/ race the buggy.

This is a fantastic rtr buggy, however i've run into a few issues that were my fault. First issue i had was not my fault but easy to forgive and get over, the dragon rc esc is a bit confusing to program. dragon rc's diagram and charts are a bit confusing to follow. another note, the ecu is pre programed to run 4s lipo and has a lipo cut-off at 3.0v, so as long as your running 4s lipos you are good to go right out the gate. the second issue i had was the steering servo. neither serpent or dragon rc claim its waterproof, i can confirm that IT IS NOT WATER PROOF lol. i fried my steering servo on my second run with this kit, but totally my fault for running it in salty snowy conditions. But again no biggie there as the included servo is on the slow side. my third issue was again totally my fault. The esc is WATER RESISTAN rather than totally waterproof, and on my third run after the servo replacement I managed to fry the esc, Salt water is a no go for almost all rc electronics even if they claim that they are waterproof(lots of past experience on this). this was not a serpent or dragon rcs quality issue, i should of thought before running in terrible salty conditions. I still give this kit 4 stars, i did manage to get some good runtime out of it before i ruined the esc, keep it out of heavy water and especially salty conditions and you'll have a blast. its a very well built good handling rc. Dont let my bad experience steer you away. as long as you dont do what i did you'll more than likely have ZERO ISSUES. Big thanks to amain hobbies on great customer service and killer prices.

got the upgraded shock towers but they do not work with the rtr suspension. not noted, also if you upgrade suspension brackets, hingpins front&rear, you also need sus pills from s811 buggy. when all is figured out this chasis really runs well

What reviewers say

Reviewers generally praise the Serpent SRX8-E RTR's performance, handling, build quality and out-of-box value, with several rating it 5/5. Common points of praise include speed, acceleration, tyres and sturdy mechanical parts. Recurring criticisms concern the electronics: the ESC was reported to be swapped for a budget unit in some units, with reviewers citing programming limits and failures, and the steering servo was described as basic and not waterproof. Some reviewers reported a stiff suspension needing setup changes, stock shock towers that seemed weak, and battery straps too short for high-capacity packs. One verified owner reported a bad motor and ESC out of the box and a long, unresolved warranty process with the manufacturer, rating it 1/5. Shipping and retailer service were praised by several buyers.

  • + Durable mechanical parts and tyres
  • + Good value and fast shipping
  • − Budget ESC with limited programming and failures
