About this part

"I took this buggy to my local track where I've been racing for about 8 months, and laid down one of the best laps ever. This ready-to-run is actually ready to run. After proper break-in of the engine, even with a non-competition 'pullstart' powerplant, it's plain to see this chassis is legit. Serpent does offer upgradeable parts that are a definite upgrade, but not needed... I definitely recommend this for anybody who just wants another buggy or is just getting into the sport and not ready to build a kit. This is for you..." - Estill - Verified Owner

About the SRX8 RTR

Powerful Engine

The Serpent .21 pull-start engine proves to be an ideal match for the SRX8 buggy. Its exceptional quality, high performance, easy starting, and extended runtime make it the perfect choice for those entering the racing scene. Securely mounted on machined aluminum engine mounts, this engine ensures stability. The low placement of the foam dual-action air filter, snugly fitting next to the fuel tank, enhances the car's profile.

Differentials

Featuring Large Volume Differentials and oversized gears, a crucial aspect includes high-volume, large internal gear differentials. The internal gears boast an impressive Mod 1.25, marking them as the largest in the marketplace. With a robust hardened spring-steel diff-coupler of 13T and a connector running in 2 oversized bearings, the Cobra-E employs a 13T/44T gearing and a 46T central spur gear with a 13T clutch bell. This drive ratio ensures remarkable acceleration, complemented by the vehicle's low weight.

Performance Suspension

The suspension has been built to ensure that this buggy is at home either on the track or out in the park. Large, 16mm shocks are coupled to 4mm shock ends to give you super smooth and durable dampening. Sway bars found front and rear are designed to have little friction while providing incredible stability.

  • 3mm chassis plate
  • Bumper aligned with chassis kick-up for precise landings

Busted Nuts RCVerified owneron Serpent SRX8 RTR 1/8 Nitro Buggy w/2.4GHz Radio & .21 Pull-Start Engine

This is a step up from ANY RTR nitro buggy, it's high end all around honestly, kind off between a race kit and a RTR package. The engine is alright, it's (based in my experience) a force .21 pro, nothing fancy but it has some power for sure! Electronics are meh, but work. This thing rocks out of the box, the suspension is kit quality, the driveline is basically set as a high end buggy. You name it, this is the best RTR option period!

What reviewers say

Reviewers generally rate the Serpent SRX8 RTR buggy highly for its build quality, suspension and ease of starting once broken in, with several describing it as a strong value for newcomers. Common praise centres on engine power and handling, while the included radio and electronics are frequently described as basic and often replaced with aftermarket units. Several reviewers report a faulty glow plug or warped throttle servo horn out of the box, and some note a carburettor needing significant tuning. One reviewer states the chassis, shocks and diff are not identical to the SRX8 Pro kit, with S811 shocks noted for rear hopping. Some reviewers recommend upgrades, such as a larger flywheel and Pro parts, though others say upgrades are not required.

  • + Good build quality
  • + Strong engine power
  • + Good value for price
  • + Handles well on track
  • − Basic included radio and electronics
  • − Faulty glow plug out of box
  • − Carburettor needs tuning
