You cannot get a better deal on this excellent engine from Amain!
I purchased this engine to power my ofna 9.5 buggy. This engine started right up after installation, and starts every time. So far it gives it enough power. Im new to nitro so the tuning im still learning but this engine seems to be very forgiving when I adjust the needles too much. Its a very hungry engine, but I know theres different fuel mixtures to improve run time. Build quality is great, parts are nice and tight, yet it doesn't feel like im going to break the pull string each time I start it. I would recommend this engine. Its price doesn't break the bank yet its still built to great tolerances.
Put this engine in my hpi savage. Break in was not difficult. Ran several tanks only slightly rich, going from 1/4- full throttle over several runs. Engine starts and idles easily. So far I'm impressed with the power for just a .21, it moves around the savage well. Typically stays in 200-250 while making good power and light blue trail. I'm able to pop wheelies from a stand still. I bought 2 of these and will buy more when they become available. We'll see how long it lasts but for 95 can't complain.
Do yourself a favor and don't buy a pull start engine. I've had 2 tanks of fuel through it and broke 2 pull start springs. If you do buy it pay close attention, loosen the glow plug when you start it and use short pulls.
Good engine to learn with or just be out on the track or keeping your car running. Runs good has some good power
Four of five reviewers are positive, praising the engine's starting reliability, power for a .21 size, and its low price for a nitro engine; several note it runs well in an HPI Savage and an Ofna 9.5 buggy. Break-in is described as easy, and one owner says it is forgiving of needle adjustments but thirsty on fuel. The one-star review is the outlier, reporting two broken pull-start springs within two tanks of fuel and advising a loosened glow plug and short pulls when starting. Reviewers do not describe a fault that appears in multiple reports, and durability over the long term is not yet established.
- + Starts easily and reliably
- + Good power for a .21
- + Affordable price
- + Easy break-in
- − Pull-start spring broke in one report
- − Thirsty on fuel
- − Long-term durability unproven
