SkyRC GPS Speed Meter & Data Logger
About this part
The SkyRC GPS Speed Meter eliminates the guessing, and the questions - if you want to know how fast your car really is, or the peak altitude of your aircraft, this is the tool you have been waiting for. The Speed Meter is the result of SkyRC’s development efforts, boasting an ultra-compact GPS module with hidden antenna design, that weighs just 41 grams. The high-sensitivity GPS receiver chip offers super fast positioning, allowing the robust controller IC to record speed and altitude in real time. The speed, altitude total mileage/ kilometer, longitude/latitude information is available for instant recall, allowing discriminating enthusiasts to fine-tune their models for peak performance.

We've been using this speed meter for the AMain Hobbies videos and they've never let us down. It doesn't have any fancy smartphone bluetooth app or anything like that, it's a barebones unit designed for one task. From our testing with a radar gun, accuracy was off by a few tenths of a MPH, which is not enough to worry about personally. The meter does record speed down to the tenths, but it is only visible after connecting the meter to your pc and viewing the data through the pc software (this is shown in the video, for reference). We're on our second unit after 4 years; the first unit exploded in spectacular fashion after an epic crash. No fault of the meter for that - the driver though... -Brett
Hey y'all. I was skeptical at first but after reading instructions it worked perfectly. I am really surprised how accurate it was. I was in our 2020 Ch3
Inaccurate readings wish I had gotten something else instead !
I love this gps and have never had problems with it
I gave it 4 stars, It would be better, if in the data logger it gave you a more precise mileage like down 1000ths, for the guy who running a drag car. Just a tip here as well, for someone like me using it for drag race tuning and speed runs. After each hit, roll back to the the start point but not over the same path you just took. This way you can see in the data both paths you took, otherwise they will overlay each other. And stop recording after each hit, will give individual data for peak speed. Otherwise it will just continue to record the data and your hits will look like a squiggly bunch of lines in the data logger. The unit itself is pretty tough, it took a couple of wicked crashes and just shows some scratches.... so mount it securely.
Five reviews, mixed in tone. Several reviewers say the GPS speed meter is accurate and reliable, with one video creator reporting accuracy within a few tenths of a MPH against a radar gun and a second unit after four years of use. The unit is described as barebones, with no smartphone app; speed to the tenth is only viewable through the PC software. One verified owner reported inaccurate readings and regretted the purchase. Another suggested finer mileage resolution in the data logger and recommended stopping recording between runs for drag-style testing. Reviewers describe the unit as durable through crashes. The sample is small and includes an off-topic-leaning review, so overall sentiment is only moderately clear.
- + Accurate readings
- + Durable through crashes
- + Simple, single-purpose design
- + Reliable over long use
- − Inaccurate readings in one review
- − No smartphone app
- − Speed to tenths only visible via PC software
- − Mileage not shown to finer precision
