Very Powerful , I lost one battery after a few months . These have a year warranty and Amain helped me with the warranty. Spektrum has an always been reliable for me .
I like the battery a lot, but I had to modify the charging cable in order for it to work with my charger. I had to cut off the gray wire.
I have been racing with these batteries in both EBuggy and ETruggy for 2-ish years with about 120 cycles on each. One is still going strong while the other is starting to lose a cell. They have never puffed, even in extreme race day conditions like 100+ degrees out with 10 minute triple A-Mains. I have tried multiple other brands and have little to no luck. I have a stack of other 4S batteries the end up on the shelf after only a few charge/drive cycles. My only complaint, they don't make a 4S shorty!!!
Straight out of the box 1 of my new Spektrum 4S Smart Pro Race Hardcase HV-Lipos is dead. Charger won’t recognize it and even with a voltmeter I can only read one cell. Internal resistance says it 114mohms. The other one was very low voltage and not balanced at all. All cells are reading 3mohms per cell of internal resistance. Which is good. But one cell won’t go above 3.77 when trying to charge the pack to storage voltage. Hard case looks fancy and seems nice. Balance port connection sucks though! It doesn’t click in it just sits in there and comes out if you move the pack while trying to charge it. It’s a horrible design. So far i’m not impressed.
Reviewers generally report strong power and good longevity. One reviewer ran these packs in EBuggy and ETruggy for about two years and roughly 120 cycles each, with one pack still performing well and the other beginning to lose a cell; they reported no puffing even in hot race-day conditions. Another reviewer said the warranty process was handled through Amain. Reviewers disagree on reliability: one reviewer received a pack that was dead out of the box with a high internal resistance reading and unbalanced cells, and criticised the balance port connection, which does not lock in and can pull out. One reviewer needed to cut a wire on the charging cable to work with their charger. The hard case was described as attractive.
- + Strong power output
- + Long cycle life in racing use
- + No puffing in extreme heat
- + Hard case looks nice
- − Dead pack out of the box
- − Balance port connection loose
- − Charging cable incompatibility
- − Cell imbalance on arrival
