Spektrum RC Firma 4S-3S 130 Amp Brushless Smart ESC
About this part
Firma Smart ESCs do much more than regulate power. They function like a virtual engineer inside your model, providing a direct path to the vital operating data you need to reach peak performance. Firma Smart ESCs give you an extra layer of confidence that your electronics are all operating at their best.
With Firma Smart ESCs, you'll be better connected to your vehicle than ever before — without installing extra components that all work independently of each other. You won't need extra wires, modules, or links. A Firma electronic speed control provides a one-wire solution for obtaining telemetry data such as RPM, temperature, battery voltage and capacity.
Firma ESCs not only gather the data but also send it to your transmitter in real time, instead of only storing it for after-run study. You're able to adjust settings as needed to boost performance on the go. The Firma Smart single-wire telemetry solution has been tested for quality and performance by the best brands in RC. Their verdict? Smart technology is both simpler and superior!

Purchased my first Firma 1130 a few months back, made a speculative buy, try it out, see what happens. It would either fly or die. System integration was an appealing feature, if it worked. It went into a Losi 22 T4, for racing application Turned out to be a good choice, my initial concerns were that it wasn't sensored so had good potential to be difficult at low speeds with cogging and then potential for high speed timing errors. Neither turned out to be an issue, it runs smooth down to the very lowest rotations then there is very slight cogging. For my application, race use, I don't care and is one less cable and connectors which is very appealing. On the up side, it includes a fitted fan, fitted leads, and is a compact light weight format. From the control perspective it gives good smooth progression with similar braking feel, making it very drive-able. Set up, either by setup box or PC is easy. PC (laptop) makes it easy to save and copy settings. Then, on the bonus side, it has great integration with other Spektrum product, they do play nice together. I configured it with SR6100AT receiver and DX5 Pro handset. As a driving solution this package works great. Another bonus, Telemetry is included, it happens by default, no need for extra wiring required. Plug it in, switch it on, telemetry is visible straight away at the handset. Looks like Spektrum send quite a lot of extra data, to and from the receiver, along the servo cables, which is a great idea. Integration seems to include the steering servo as well (S6240), if you elect to use the AVC feature everything seems to "join hands and sing together" it gives a great driving solution although wont be accepted for formal race events. Takes a lot of set-up time and testing to get it sorted, but once its dialled, its a really good integration. Yes, AVC can be shut off totally, at the handset. But on a casual day where stuff is not going well it sure can hold the show together for just a bit longer. Firmware updates are a snack, installing them seems to be easiest by connecting direct to the factory thru a PC/WiFi. I have just bought a second ESC, without doing a lot of extra research. It has gone into a Traxxas Slash 4x4. So far it has proved to be the same, rock solid, it just works. Sure has knocked a lot of wrinkles out of the Slash Truck.
Ran my truck a few times with the Spektrum Firma and so far i am happy with performance. My main concern was an ESC that wouldn't run hot or overheat, and so far so good. Programming however can be tricky so i plan to purchase a program box.
So far really liking this ESC been running 3s and no issues!just bought the spektrum programmer and updated the ESC and works perfect and lots of customization too programming it!
Awesome product works great have it in four of my cars/trucks/buggies
So far so good haven't got it out for a good 4s bash yet hopefully it holds up it says 2s to 4s I have a 160a spektrum esc for my Mojave exb and love it so figure why not for my senton. Love the esc so far so hopefully hold up
Reviewers generally report good performance from the Spektrum Firma 4S-3S 130A Smart ESC. One racer found it smooth at low speeds with only slight cogging despite being sensorless, and noted the integrated fan and reduced wiring. Other owners say it runs cool in trucks and buggies and has held up so far, though some have not yet tested it under heavy 4S bashing. Programming is described as somewhat tricky by one owner, with a separate programmer used to update and customise settings. One owner had an ESC fail in mud and water and reported that Spektrum support provided a replacement quickly under warranty.
- + Smooth low-speed running
- + Runs cool
- + Customisable via programmer
- + Responsive warranty replacement
- − Slight cogging at very low speeds
- − Programming can be tricky
- − Limited long-term durability data
- − One reported failure in mud and water
