This servo was OEM on my Axial (RTR) Capra. After 8 months of near-daily use something went sideways in the electronics and it needed replacement. At $20 for 201 Oz/In of torque @ 6.0 volts and all-metal gears and body, it's a no brainer unless you're into competition crawling or simply must have a $70+, 300+ oz/in servo. I also replaced the much weaker, plastic geared OEM servo in my Losi DB Pro with this servo and it now performs far better. IMO, for most 'Bashers' or 'Trail-trucks', this particular servo makes for a very prudent fiscal choice that also provides some very attractive performance features and stats.
Extremely weak in the Lasernut. I replaced with mine with my old traxxas trx4 2075. Twice the power. That said, this works great in the Infraction. The $40. Amazon 35kg servo is also a good replacement.
An absolutely rock-solid and strong servo with exacting movements from 0 to 270 degrees. I've installed two of them, one for front wheel steering and one for rear steering, in my Tamiya Konghead 6X6 crazy big truck! I've also used this servo in a rock crawler with excellent results. Do yourself a favor and spring for the few extra bucks to get into a quality metal gear waterproof servo.
Reviewers generally rate the Spektrum S614 positively for its metal gears, waterproof build and value, with two verified owners praising its strength and precise steering in crawlers, basher trucks and a 6x6 build. One owner reports it failed electronically after about eight months of near-daily use. A third reviewer found it too weak in a Lasernut, while stating it worked well in another model; that reviewer compared it unfavourably to a different servo. Reviews are few, and the disagreement appears to reflect different vehicles and loads rather than a consistent defect.
