This is a Spektrum RC Smart G2 PowerStage 2S Bundle with a 2S Smart LiPo Hard Case Battery. The Smart Technology Powerstage Bundle is a one-box solution for vehicles requiring 2S performance. Designed with the simplicity of Smart Technology, this bundle includes one 5000mAh 2S 50C Smart G2 LiPo battery, and one S155 Smart AC Charger.

Spektrum Smart Battery:
You'll never have to set charge preferences for a Spektrum Smart battery until you want to. When a Spektrum Smart LiPo battery is connected to a Spektrum Smart charger, unique parameters and health of that Smart LiPo battery are upload from the Smart memory microchip integrated into the battery. Through the charger, you can view and set preferences, such as charge rates, so that all you have to do to charge the pack every time is press the charger "Start" button. Smart technology takes care of the rest. The updated G2 performance batteries feature an all in one connector that eliminates the need for a balance connector, as the balance process is done through the charger and the battery connector. The smart batteries also come programmed from the factory to self discharge to a safe 3.90V per cell after 72hrs of inactivity. All of the functions and features placed in this battery are intended to supply the user with a powerful and safe lithium battery. 

Spektrum Smart Charger:
With the compact S155 AC Mini Smart Charger, modelers of all experience levels can enjoy the charging advantages of innovative Spektrum Smart technology. This charger comes compatible with 4S LiPo, LiFe, Li-Ion, or LiHV batteries as well as 1-12S NiMH and NiCd packs, equipped with a IC3 or IC5 connector. Generation 2 Smart technology enables the S155 to both charge and balance Smart G2 batteries using one simple connection. No separate balance lead is needed. When connected to a Smart battery, its Auto Charge feature recognizes the correct charging parameters instantly and begins safe, proper charging automatically.

Purchased this as I was getting my feet wet into the hobby and this is charger will do what you need to get started for your spectrum batteries. Charger has been going strong with no issues

The charger is almost perfect. Charging a smart battery is as simple as plugging it in, charger recognizes what it is, what capacity, its rating and it automatically charges the smart battery. The smart battery will also discharge to storage capacity after 72 hours (default, can be changed) if they are above storage capacity. 1 star off because the charger won't charge to storage capacity. If you are under 3.8V per cell, you'll have to charge the LiPo above 3.8V and then let the battery discharge down to 3.8V per cell. Or if you want to sit there by the charger and catch it right around there, go ahead. An option to charge from drained to 3.8V and then have the charger stop would be the only improvement I can think of.
