Snapped on first one. I love ssd and never had an issue but snapped first run
The metal quality just isn’t there. Broke the ears off the inner shaft 2nd run out.
Set up a great rig, thought these axles would do well. I have Treal housings, Holmes revolver, castle copperhead, team garage hack trans, vanquish drive shafts, with hard core rc links. This rig was my jewel. These shafts broke on the first run. Very disappointing. Hopefully it was a fluke and they aren’t actually this terrible. Every company has its issues.
Installed these in an Axial Wraith 1.9 and it increases the steering drastically. I would say they are every bit as good as the Incision shafts I usually run. HUGE upgrade over OEM CVD type front axles shafts.
I am pretty new to RC rock crawlers, and the only one I have is an SCX10 II Trail Honcho RTR. Right away I felt like it needed more steering angle, and the stock dogbone axle shafts were preventing that (along with the stock drag link). Bought these SSD Pro44 axle shafts (plus an aftermarket drag link) and the steering angle is greatly improved. Install was straightforward and I've had no issues with durability. I've only been running the stock wheels/tires, but I do have a significantly stronger steering servo (Send-It RC HV626). I would recommend these to anyone that feels like their RTR SCX10 II isn't quite turning sharp enough.
Reviewers disagree sharply on durability. Three of five 1/5 reviewers report breakage: one snapped on the first run, one broke the inner shaft ears on the second run, and one says the shafts broke on the first run in a high-end build. Two 5/5 reviewers report strong steering-angle gains over stock dogbone or CVD-type axles, with one citing no durability issues after installation on an SCX10 II RTR and the other comparing them favourably to Incision shafts on an Axial Wraith 1.9. The ratings split is consistent with a small sample, and no reviewer reports a fix for the breakage.
