This aluminum bulkhead (SPTST2530B) weighs 44g (without screws). Stock bulkhead (TRA2530A) weighs 26g (without screws). All original Rustler VXL hex screws worked. This includes: 3xTRA2542 for lower chassis, 2xTRA2542 for front bumper, 2xTRA2546 for upper chassis, and 2xTRA2579 for front shock tower. Rustler XL5 self-tapping shock tower screws TRA3288 won't work. 2xTRA2579 would be an additional purchase here. (Bundled screws are 4mm while shock tower holes want 3mm.) Blue thread lock also required.

I purchased this aluminum bulkhead in Jan of 2014 because the screws that are fixed into the stock plastic bulkhead that comes on the Traxxas Rustlers, Bandits, and Stampedes, kept getting ripped out of the plastic bulkhead whenever the vehicle was hit head on. This of course destroyed the plastic bulkhead as the screw holes were stripped along with cracking that occurred around the molding joints of the plastic bulkhead. I went through two Traxxas plastic bulkheads before realizing that I needed to find a superior product. That's when I came across the ST Racing Concepts line of CNC-machined aluminum products. I cannot overemphasize how pleased I was once I installed and tested the ST Racing Concepts bulkhead. No longer do I experience stripped screw-holes and destroyed bulkheads. The aluminum bulkhead is extremely durable, looks nice (I have the electric blue one), and is definitely worth the money. And on a final note, I am still enjoying the durable performance of this aluminum bulkhead five years later. -;)

much better than factory part for a basher like me or even for some one that likes to race.

Very well made and it fit perfectly on my Nitro Stampede. I took off one star because the blue is no where near as dark as it is shown in the pictures. It is more of a sky blue so it doesn't really match the blue from Traxxas.

I LOVE this Bulkhead so much better then the stock plastic one. The only problem I have is the screw that they provide isn't very strong I barely hit the curb and the two bulkhead screws bent and it was very difficult to get them out not to mention find what size they are to buy new screws.... by the way the size of the screw is 4mm X 15mm so other then fragile screws a great upgrade

What reviewers say

Reviewers generally rate this aluminum front bulkhead highly, praising its durability compared with the stock plastic part, which reviewers say can strip screw holes and crack after frontal impacts. One reviewer reports it survived a hard head-on hit into concrete. Reviewers disagree on weight benefit: one reports the aluminum part weighs 44g versus 26g for the stock bulkhead, while another did not weigh it. Recurring issues include the bundled 4mm screws bending easily in a low-speed impact and being hard to remove, and one reviewer notes the fit requires shock tower screws not included in the bundle and blue thread lock. One reviewer found the colour lighter than pictured. Reviews cover mostly Rustler, Bandit, Stampede and Slash applications.

  • + Stronger than stock plastic bulkhead
  • + Survives head-on impacts
  • + Fits original Traxxas screws
  • + Good value for durability
  • − Bundled screws bend easily
  • − Heavier than stock part
  • − Colour lighter than pictured
  • − Shock tower screws not included
