I bought this body set to replace my previous Mustang GT4 body that came with my Tamiya USA 25th Anniversary TT-02. Now the biggest difference between that one and this one is that it does NOT have pre-cut wheel arches. Interesting to note is that both require having body post holes drilled, which is to be expected on this body-only set but not on any included with a TT-02. This body set paints up REALLY nice if you go box art, though I will say there are some difficulties. Cutting the wheel arches should be done with a pair of curved scissors as the “score, bend and snap” technique can cause some stretch tears if you’re not careful, especially on the rear where the rear bumper extensions are on either side. Painting will require quite A LOT of masking and I’d personally recommend Tamiya’s drop cloth tape. Although it can be tricky to use (and frankly the tape they use with it is horrible), it makes painting the front splitter and rear extensions very easy and saves A LOT of time and masking tape. DO NOT use any sort of CA glue to hold the lexan light buckets in place or it’ll ruin your paint and eventually come loose. Use Shoe Goo or 3M automotive trim tape for the best hold. Decaling was very easy, save for the light surrounds which are among the most fiddly of them all and tear very easily. Curved tweezers and a cuticle scissors work best for them. All in all, it’s a beautiful body when it’s done. Wish I could show a picture because DAMN does it look great when it’s done!

When you smash your car into the pipes trying to learn, the body takes a beating, so you have to buy a new one. Who doesn't love a muscle car body?

This is the best "cheap" TT-o2 kit you can buy! If you like Mustangs and are just wanting to dip your toes in the water of RC touring cars, this is a great starter option! Lots of clubs run box stock classes for these also which is a lot of fun at a low price point.

What reviewers say

Reviewers describe this clear Tamiya Ford Mustang GT4 body set as detailed and attractive, with one reviewer noting it paints well when using box-art styling. The set has no pre-cut wheel arches, so buyers must cut them, and one reviewer advises using curved scissors because the score-bend-snap method can cause stretch tears, particularly at the rear bumper extensions. Body post holes also need drilling. One reviewer reports a body that was not perfect, with wrinkles running from the rear wheel wells across the body. Several reviewers recommend it as an affordable option for TT-02 owners or beginners, and one mentions it being used in box-stock club classes. Review count is small and some reviews are brief.
