About the Hornet EVO
Classic Design, Modern Performance

This is a much better revision of the hornet. Stronger suspension, better front a arms and adjustable turnbuckles. Can sustain a stronger motor. Really cool kit with better gears.
Fun kit. Be advised, a standard size 5000mah hardcase 2S battery is slightly too long to fit.
Awesome kit! My wife bought me a little RC truck for Christmas. As a kid I always wanted a Hornet. This reignited my interest and when I saw this 40th anniversary kit I ordered it. Really enjoyed building it, put a torque tuned motor in, it really handles well and is great fun to drive. Amain Hobbies service was second to none
Great kit! Fun build! Love the updated suspension! Much easier to drive than the original version!
My first Tamiya kit... I loved it and already purchased two other Tamiyas. The instructions were excellent and the kit went together well. My only complaint was with the front lower suspension arm pin plate. The holes for the lower suspension arm pivot pins is too large, plus the plate flexes, causing excessive fore-and-aft slop in the front suspension. A $20 aluminum hop-up part from a third-party manufacturer fixed that issue and the Hornet Evo now a more precise handling machine. I also added a Sport Tuned motor and the performance is impressive. I have several modern, high-performance RC cars, trucks, and buggies, but the Tamiya kits offer an unusual, nostalgic 1980s vibe to kit building and RC that I find appealing. Every RC'er should try one!
Reviewers generally rate the Tamiya Hornet EVO 1/10 2WD buggy kit highly, praising its nostalgic 1980s look, clear instructions, and straightforward build. Most say the updated suspension and drivetrain make it more capable and easier to drive than the original Hornet, and several note it handles well with upgraded motors or pinions. Recurring criticisms include a loose front lower suspension arm pin plate, a rear suspension that some find less than ideal, a battery fit issue with 5000mAh hardcase packs, and slow spare-part availability for broken parts such as rear driveshafts. Several reviewers also praise the seller's customer service. Two reviews are from owners who have not finished building the kit, so the sample includes limited long-term feedback.

- + Good value for the price
- − Loose front lower suspension arm pin plate
