These stock 13 tooth, 0.8 module aluminum pinion gears from Tamiya are flat out terrible and that is why I gave them the lowest one star review. (If I could leave a zero star review I would but the lowest rating possible is one star.) They are made from extremely soft aluminum and they will wear down to nothing quickly in a Clod Buster or Bull Head. I wore out mine even way back when my first Clod Buster was almost completely stock (its only upgrade was a full set of ball bearings) with the original 540 motors and mechanical speed controller in it. The teeth quickly wore down and the aluminum dust from the worn teeth mixed with the grease in the gear cases and made a nasty, gooey paste that I had to clean off. If you can, do not even use these stock Tamiya pinion gears when you first assemble your Clod Buster or Bull Head. Do it right the first time and get aftermarket steel pinion gears and a ball bearing set before you put your new monster truck together. Steel pinion gears will last an extremely long time in a Clod Buster or Bull Head. Note that if you do not have aftermarket adjustable motor mounts or aftermarket gear cases with built in adjustable motor mounts, the stock Clod Buster can only use pinion gears with 13 teeth. These stock pinion gears are 0.8 module, which is a metric pitch. Use die hard Clod Buster fans have been replacing them with 32 pitch steel pinion gears since day one with absolutely no problems whatsoever. (My original Clod Buster has been using 32 pitch steel pinion gears since 1987 and it has never had any gear mesh problems.) Technically on paper 0.8 module is not exactly the same as 32 pitch, but they are close enough that no Clod Buster owners have ever had any gear mesh problems with using 32 pitch steel pinion gears in place of the stock 0.8 module aluminum ones. There are aftermarket companies that make 0.8 module steel pinion gears but they are hard to find here in the USA. These stock Clod Buster pinion gears are to be avoided like the plague and are a well known weakness of the stock truck. My honest advice is to never ever use them.
