About this part

This is a 100ml can of Tamiya PS-28 Fluorescent Green Lexan Spray Paint. These spray paints were developed especially for decorating transparent polycarbonate bodies used in R/C car modeling. Each can contains 100ml (3oz) of paint, which is the appropriate amount for finishing one 1/10 scale model.

Painting polycarbonate bodies is done from the inside of the body shell as opposed to the outside of a traditional plastic model. When spraying body from the inside, keep the can about 30cm from the surface. After curing apply another coat as necessary. These paints are impervious to oil and fuels, so they can be safely used on gas-powered R/C bodies.

Warning: Never use these paints on plastic models.

I used this paint in conjunction with Tamiya Metallic Purple and Bright Silver. It came out looking great! Really loved the color scheme. The paint was smooth with no chunks.

Cool color needed a few coats, but looks sweet. Will buy again for sure.

You really have to lay this one on thick. Like a full can thick, or the backing color will bleed through and be visible. I backed with both white and silver after applying more paint than I thought would be enough just to be sure. Both colors showed through. Been painting RC bodies for over 25 years, so not a rookie at the game. Disappointing.

What reviewers say

Reviewers report that the fluorescent green lexan spray paint gives a bright color and a smooth finish with no chunks, and one reviewer praised the color scheme when combined with other Tamiya paints. Two reviewers were positive overall, though one noted it needed several coats. The main recurring issue is coverage: one experienced verified owner found that backing colors such as white and silver showed through even after heavy application, and described the result as disappointing. With only three reviews, the coverage concern rests on a single account.

  • + Bright, vivid fluorescent green color
  • + Smooth finish with no chunks
  • + Works well in combined color schemes
  • − Needs several coats for full coverage
  • − Backing colors may show through
  • − Heavy application required to cover
