Comes with all the bearings needed to replace the stock plastic bushings. It would be nice if these came in the Tamiya TT02 kits by default.

Works amazingly. Never run the stocks bushings, so I can't really make a comparaison.

This is a must have for any RC that come with plastic bushings. The plastic bushing are a sure shot way to wear out the important plastic bits in your brand new RC. Don’t bother even opening the bag of plastic bushings and pop these in!

I recently upgraded my TT-02 to brushless and I noticed that the drivetrain wasn’t smooth and the wheels vibrated a good amount. I never could figure out the problem. Meanwhile, my wheel hexes were heating up so much that the wheels literally welded themselves to the hex. I still could not figure out why (all my other RC’s came with real bearings, so I had no experience with bushings). Then one day my metal rear differential starting clicking. I took it apart and the gears were fine….then I noticed the bushing. The bushing had worn almost 2 millimeters off and the metal gears were over 200°F just from the friction. I then replaced all the bushings with real sealed bearings and the problems disappeared immediately. The drivetrain lost its play and the gears stopped clicking. Top speed is higher and the car just runs like butter. Definitely get rid of the stock bushings and get these for your TT-02! You won’t regret it. However, these should have been included in the kit and the kit price should just be $10 higher.

What reviewers say

Reviewers generally rate the Tamiya TT-02 Ball Bearing Set highly and say it provides the bearings needed to replace the stock plastic bushings. Several recommend it for any TT-02 running plastic bushings, and one notes it would be preferable if included in the kit. One reviewer, who had not run the stock bushings, could not compare them directly. The most detailed review describes a brushless-upgraded TT-02 with rough drivetrain feel, vibration, overheating hexes and a worn plastic bushing that caused heat damage to metal gears; replacing the bushings reportedly resolved these issues. Reviews are few and largely positive.

  • + Includes all bearings needed to replace stock bushings
  • + Reported to work well
  • + Helps prevent bushing wear and heat damage
  • − Not included in standard TT-02 kits
  • − Limited comparison from some reviewers who never ran stock bushings
