I hope you morons who wrote that your hex screw snapped do realize that you DO NOT need to torque down with the same pressure of a MAC SEMI-TRUCK! Do you fools realize that? Guess what, if you do not even tighten the screw it still will be held on by the pressure of the wheel nut. You guys are a trip!

These work great. Here's the deal. Put them in a vise and close them all the way. Put them on your axle, and put the screw in with some locktite , snug, but not tight so they don't strip. They are strong, and hard to bend, and if you try to use the screw to tighten them up, they'll strip. So close them up with the vise first.

For the t5m, i squeeze the hex in a small vice prior to adding the screw. This allows the hex to fit snug on the axle and just tap it on with a socket, install screw tighten till you feel a tiny bit of resistance. I also pre-thread screw to rid any burs from machining. The 7mm hex i find to be to narrow in the front, for it will rub on the inside edge of the wheel causing a loop out at full lock.

These work great on the DR10 if your looking for a set of aluminum hexes. Just snug the screw! Keep in mind the screw is captured by the wheel itself so they don't have to be "twight like a tiger". :-)

What reviewers say

Reviewers largely agree that the included 2.5mm clamping screws are too soft and frequently snap, sometimes with minimal torque, during installation or even while loosening or pre-threading. Several note the stock screws compare poorly to other Associated hex screws. Fit is disputed: some report the hexes clamp well on a B5M Lite heavy-duty axle (part 71019) or a T5M, while others say they are too narrow or do not clamp on B5/B5M axles, and one reviewer found the front fit problematic on a T5M. Workarounds mentioned include vise-closing the hex before fitting, using locktite with a snug screw, and replacing the screws with stainless or titanium ones. Opinions on the hexes themselves are mixed, with some praising the aluminum construction.

  • + Aluminum construction
  • + Clamps well when pre-closed in a vise
  • + Works on DR10 and heavy-duty axles
  • + Replacement support from manufacturer
  • − Clamping screws snap easily
  • − Screws are too soft
  • − Poor fit on B5/B5M axles
  • − Possible front-wheel rubbing on T5M
