This Hoonitruck is awesome ! Drives great out of the box and the body is really nice looking ! I run it on 3 s lipo and is fairly quick for its size and faster than expected and will go just under 30 mph !
This is an absolutely awesome pavement truck. The quality and workmanship from Associated is excellent. The body details are amazing and are very well done. Performance is good for a brushed system, the ESC has nice adjustability and the 550, motor has a good amount of torque for slides and drifting. I'm not a basher but more of a scale detail RC guy and it fits the bill 100%. The chassis is solid and precise, the only thing I would change would be to have adjustable steering and camber turnbuckles. But the factory setup is spot on, the tires lay perfectly flat and toe in is also. Excellent vehicle, well done Associated.
Love the Hoonitruck, even in its brushed state. Only complaint is the servo seems to be not functioning properly. Does not center from one direction vs the opposite direction consistently which makes it impossible to trim.
I highly recommend!! It’s super cool I’m buying another one
Stunning replica of the real thing and fun to drive. This is a solid ride out the box but it does have grease in the diffs instead of oil as the manual would have you think. I also added their optional sway bars. And the stock tires are pretty good as well. They give the truck a good amount of grip and slide.
Reviewers consistently praise the Hoonitruck's scale body detail, looks and build quality, and describe it as a solid, fun out-of-box drive with good grip and slide on the stock tires. Several note the truck feels substantial, with steel parts adding weight, and that the factory setup is well tuned. Performance is described as adequate for a brushed system, with one reviewer reporting speeds near 30 mph on 3S LiPo. Recurring complaints include a steering servo that does not center consistently, making trim impossible for one reviewer, and a desire for a brushless option or upgrade. One reviewer also reports grease rather than oil in the differentials, contrary to the manual. Review count is small, and the variant is consistently the standard Hoonitruck RTR.
- + Attractive, detailed scale body
- + Solid build quality and chassis
- + Good grip and slide on stock tires
- + Well-tuned factory setup
- − Steering servo does not center consistently
- − Brushed system; brushless upgrade desired
- − Grease in diffs instead of oil per manual
- − Heavier than expected due to steel parts
