About this part

This is an optional Team Associated B6.1/B6.1D Factory Team Direct Drive Kit. This kit eliminates the slipper and mounts the spur gear direct to the top shaft. This upgrade helps drop unnecessary rotational mass and weight.

Features:
  • Direct Drive top shaft eliminates the traditional B6.1 slipper clutch.
  • Weighs 30% less than the traditional B6.1 slipper clutch.
  • Faster acceleration from less rotating mass.
  • More efficient drivetrain may result in longer run times.
  • Recommended for Stock or Spec racing (17.5T and/or 21.5T motors)
Note:
Not recommended for use on carpet. Using the Direct Drive Kit on carpet will put too much stress on the idler gears and can potentially strip them. Team Associated is not responsible for damaged or broken idler gears.

Includes:
  • (1) Top Shaft (Direct Drive)
  • (1) Direct Drive Hub
  • (3) M3x0.5x5mm BHCS
  • (1) M4 Locknut w/Flange

Don't buy this until they updated the top shaft to be full width (same as kit). It strips idler gears like no tomorrow.

Purchased in October of 2020, the gear on the Eliminator shaft has been updated and is now the same width as the gear on the Original Slipper shaft, so stripping the idler is no longer as issue. Uses standard spur gears. Slipper eliminator and new hardware was 14 grams less than the original hardware, so if your close to minimum weight you will need to add some somewhere else.

nice design but it is only to work with associated slipper spur gears. I got it thinking I could mount kimbrough gears on it but the nut does not lock the spur adapter onto the top shaft. I had to make a spacer out of the stock spur to take up the space that it was missing between nut and adapter.

i have the first rendition of the slipper eliminator kit ( not full width of the idler)and it is still going strong over high bite track conditions for several months. No stripped idlers or top shafts in 17.5 SC and buggy. I would not use if over 13.5. I can attest that the new generation is now full width of idler.

Ive been running this in my SC6.1 for about a month now on very high bite indoor clay (running slicks). I haven't had a single issue running my Schuur Speed 17.5 v4 with the purple (torque) rotor. It is significantly lighter than the stock setup and I would not recommend this for anyone running on carpet as this seems to be where most people are having issues. But if your running on clay, give it a go, you won't be disappointed.

What reviewers say

Reviewers report mixed results, with the main recurring problem being stripped idler gears, especially on high-grip carpet and Astro surfaces. Several note that the original release of the top shaft gear is narrower than the idler, and some say an updated full-width version exists, though reports differ on whether the current kit uses it. Owners running 17.5 spec on clay generally report no issues. Reviewers agree the kit is significantly lighter than the stock slipper setup, which may require added rear weight. Compatibility with aftermarket spur gears such as Kimbrough and Yokomo is limited, and one owner reported diff case wear on carpet with a 21.5 motor. Several reviewers say it is unsuitable for power levels above 17.5.

  • + Significant weight savings over stock slipper
  • + Works well on clay at 17.5
  • + Responsive handling
  • + No idler wear reported at 17.5 on clay
  • − Strips idler gears on high-grip carpet and Astro
  • − Original top shaft gear too narrow
  • − Limited spur gear compatibility
  • − Unsuitable above 17.5 power
