Very nice truck for the money. I bought to attempt to turn into a truck to race, AE does not 4x4 short course kit at the moment. Truck was definitely fast enough to race on 2s. Like others said the servo is very slow. That I just changed. It does jump and land well. There are 2 faults that are making this a 4 star instead of 5. First the wheels nuts were left loose from the factory and that ruined one wheel. Second I serviced the diffs after 1 test run to put in fluids that will be better for a slippery rutted track and I found sand had gotten into the front gear box. I decided to try to seal up the lower skids to the box with some Shoe Goo and hope that does the trick.
It’s ok. I bought this to race some friends who also have SC trucks. The servo it comes with is cheap and the gears stripped on its second use. The parts just seem a bit cheap and brittle. This wouldn’t be such an issue if there were more upgrade options for this chassis. The upgrade options (more durable parts) are very limited. My biggest issue with this chassis is the design and placement of the servo and steering linkage. The servo horn is on the underside of the chassis and is vulnerable to rocks and debris. The design also makes it difficult to run a aftermarket servo saver. The built-in servo saver is very soft. This is a fast truck out of the box but I was expecting a little more from the Team Associated Short Course Truck.
This truck is a great deal. Im running it on a short track with a lot of jumps and 180s. It handles both extremely well. Plenty of power very nice handling. Responds quickly.. no races yet, but i think it will perform well in that environment. Much truck for the money. .
I really wanted to give this thing a five-star review, but I can't just yet. I've been searching for something that my six year old can use. After SCX24's, Mini B and, Mojave Groms, this has been hands down the best of the bunch, but.... Out of the box, the servo made an unhappy noise at full lock to the left. I turned down the DR and it stopped. After two batteries though, the servo was toast. If AE treats us right, I'll come back and update to five stars. I picked this over the Slash, b/c of the build quality and the driveline appeared to be better protected from little rocks. I played with it for a few minutes and it was GREAT! Dialed back to 35-40% and my son loves it! He was driving the best I've ever seen on one of our local tracks. He was doing so well that the owner said he thought he was ready to race. Easy to drive and so far, six year old tough and approved!
Entirely satisfied with my purchase! The truck drives smooth and fast on 2s power, very controllable for a beginner like myself. On 3s it really flies. I’ve had some pretty big crashes as I’m just goofing around in a park or parking lots (tough hits on curbs and trees both). No issues yet either with the body or any components from the abuse I’ve given it (only 5 packs worth so far). Given the competitive entry level type price and the fun factor I’m quite happy.
Reviewers generally rate the Pro4 SC10 highly for its price and handling, with many praising its speed, jump landings and durability for beginners and club racing. Several owners report upgrading the stock servo, which is widely described as slow or weak, and one reports the servo failing after a few packs. Other recurring criticisms include loose wheel nuts from the factory, sand getting into the gearbox, stripped gears, a soft built-in servo saver, and a servo horn mounted on the underside that is exposed to debris. Some reviewers also say upgrade options are limited. Most reviews are from verified owners, and the reviews do not describe a separate variant.
- + Good value for the price
- + Fast and handles well out of the box
- + Durable under beginner abuse
- + Good jump landings
- − Stock servo slow or prone to failure
- − Limited upgrade options
- − Soft servo saver and exposed servo horn
- − Loose wheel nuts and gearbox debris issues
