Next Level Competition Race Buggy - TLR 22X

Team Losi Racing takes its revolutionary 22 series and launches the next era of electric racing dominance with the 22X DC 2WD kit — an updated design with more adjustability for higher speed capabilities on today’s high-grip dirt and clay surfaces. The result is a buggy design that's easier to maintain and comes optimized for dirt and clay tracks.

About the 22X DC

Chassis

Lengthened for consistency with current track types, the 2mm machined 7075-T6 aluminum chassis is hard-anodized for excellent wear characteristics and precision milled to flex in the correct places for optimal grip. The prevalence of spec racing has led to the need for many racers to install motor fans for keeping temperatures lower. Rather than an aluminum mount or double-sided tape, the 22X includes a built-in, molded fan mount secured to the mud guard.

Suspension

Larger 13mm big-bore shocks are included with the 22X for even better handling and cornering. They're paired with 13mm springs to provide the proper support. The updated shocks have updated G3 3mm internals while utilizing the current trusted seals. A wide variety of caster adjustment options — from -5° to 5°, in 2.5° increments — are available right out of the box. In combination with the adjustable kick-up, this lets you go from 15° to 30° of total caster.

Drivetrain

The updated laydown gearbox design allows easy access to the differential and idler gear. The idler gear and differential can be replaced and maintained quickly without disassembling the entire gearbox — a key convenience because the suspension uses the gearbox for all of its mounting points. Multiple differential heights are possible, starting higher than the previous 22 vehicles for the current style tracks.

Have been running this since august. Have broken 1 arm in that time and have been using this to re-learn how to drive after 23 year hiatus, so I have crashed a lot. The kit went together super well. The stock setup is easy to drive. I have even got a few podium finishes in club races. There is a lot of things to tune to make the car more or less aggressive depending on your driving style.

Awesome place to get RC equipment from, always competitive pricing! Still finding it a little hard to navigate site, but extremely happy with the 22x!

The front pivot will break in the first couple of batteries. It is laughably bad at its job. Other than that, the car is solid and handles pretty well. The box setup is pretty firm for a low grip track. I put softer springs on the rear and it calmed it down considerably.

Awesome kit from TLR! Went together perfectly as you would expect. Very durable! Highly recommended.

What reviewers say

Reviewers generally praise the Team Losi Racing 22X DC buggy kit for a smooth build, good handling and durability. One reviewer who had crashed heavily and broken one arm reported that the stock setup is easy to drive and that the car has been competitive in club races. Tuning options were noted as a strength for adjusting aggressiveness. The main recurring complaint is a front pivot that one reviewer said broke within the first couple of batteries. That reviewer also found the stock setup firm on low-grip track, which softer rear springs improved. One review criticised the retailer's site navigation, though this relates to the store rather than the kit.

  • + Smooth, straightforward build
  • + Good handling and fun to drive
  • + Durable
  • + Easy stock setup with tuning options
  • − Front pivot reported to break early
  • − Stock setup firm on low-grip track
  • − Retailer site navigation difficult
