An absolutely outstanding crawler! I have about $150 in upgrades on it and I have yet to see an impossible obstacle for it. It’s built like the full size crawlers, and handily outperforms the SCX24. The tires are really good, and it’s withstood water up to the roof. The best upgrade is an aftermarket faster motor with crawl gears. The light bar kit and the Pro Scale light kit really look killer. The Bronco body totally outperforms the Defender body, and looks cooler. Definitely recommend

don't purchase if you don't have $80+ to spend to make it work. After three days of normal use the pinion/spur gear got stripped out Amain replaced it without a question then after I replaced the pinion/spur gear it stripped out a week later. (would be $30 to upgrade/replace with steal gears from treal hobby). then the steering servo stripped out, would not work at all.(would be $50 to upgrade/replace) called Amain they gave me full refund. Amain gets five stars easy went above and beyond to make it right. TRX4-M 1/18 gets two stars.

Would love to give this a 5* but 2 of the shocks in the truck came low on oil and almost like they’re sticking in place. Had to disassemble and rebuild them which in all honesty is a simple maintenance item. Great, capable truck for its size. Would buy another for sure!

This is the most fun with RC that I've had in years. Good performance out of the box and upgrades on this small platform are affordable. With the small size, it is easy to find places to crawl. For true crawling, the crawler gear set is a must and should have been included in the box

What reviewers say

Reviewers generally rate the Traxxas TRX-4M Ford Bronco crawler highly for fun, capability and size, with several saying it outperforms the SCX24 and the Bronco body is preferred over the Defender. Upgrades are frequently mentioned, with one reviewer spending about $150 and others noting that a crawl gear set and faster motor are worthwhile. The main recurring problems are drivetrain and steering failures on one unit (pinion/spur gear and steering servo stripping, later refunded by the seller) and shocks that came low on oil and stuck, requiring rebuilding. Some reviewers say the crawler gear set should have been included in the box. The sample is small, and one review reports a serious early failure while others report none.

  • + Fun to drive
  • + Capable crawler for its size
  • + Handles water well
  • + Bronco body preferred over Defender
  • − Pinion/spur gear and steering servo failures on one unit
  • − Shocks low on oil and sticking
  • − Crawler gear set not included
  • − Upgrades often needed for serious crawling
