Not so much a review of the Traxxas UDR but of AMain Hobbies. I received my UDR in the sealed factory box inside of a factory sealed box. When I unboxed it, I noticed a very small black part lying on the dining room table. "HMMM, better figure out where that goes." When I turned it over and spun one of the front wheels, the "dog bone" fell out. "Oh goodie!". I called AMain the next day and spoke to Wally. He stayed with me while I explained what I though was wrong. After we determined that there was no further damage to the stub axel socket, and that the part was left out by the factory, he offered to have me send the truck back or he would send me the missing pin and bloc set. I have built and modified a "few" RC cars and trucks in my time, so I opted for the parts. Now, this is where it gets kool. Wally FedEx expedited the parts to me in the hopes that they would be here in a few days. They arrived before noon the following day as I'm "just" up the road in Central Oregon. I'm a happy camper and very satisfied customer. I will continue to deal with AMain in the future. Oh ... and the truck runs fine.
Showed up the day it said it would. Beautiful truck (orange is my favorite color) runs good. Held up at the skate park and hasn’t failed to put a smile on my face!!
I bought this UDR after having spent well over 2 years custom building a Baja Rey into a "Mango Loco Toyota" trophy trophy truck in 1/10 scale (painted by my friend Matt). The Mango Loco build was out of my passion for RC and Scale accuracy of a real Baja 1000 trophy truck. It was time consuming and stressful at so many points. By contrast and still having an aversion to Traxxas for whatever reason I decided to get a UDR. Wow was I shocked from the very first moments of UN-boxing and driving it on both 4s and 6s. The scale detail was "good" enough but the fun driving it was way beyond what I expected, the scale suspension brought me right back to videos of Bryce Menzies truck blasting through whoops, rocky sections etc.... No longer worried about destroying scale details I had spent hours on I could just drive it and have so much fun watching the suspension react as on the 1:1! It literally brought me back to the fun of RC and freedom from scale building perfection. Do not ever combine them unless you want to continually repair your super scale rig. Much love to all my RC brothers and sisters out there, Ed & Peaches(my dog who gets me thru the days).
WOW! Awesome truck! I've had many large scale rc's with this kind of power but this handles so well. It's my favorite from Traxxas so far. It's not your hardcore basher but, it's very durable. For what it's built to do as a off road trophy truck it's amazing. Great job Traxxas.
I love this truck, used it a few times already works great, looks great, I haven't broken anything yet. Very fun to drive. Takes a little skill to drive with a solid axle, but the suspension is awesome.
All five reviews are five-star ratings for the Traxxas Unlimited Desert Racer UDR 6S RTR (Fox variant). Reviewers consistently praise the truck's appearance, power, handling and fun factor, with one noting it is durable for bashing and that the suspension is well regarded. One reviewer reports it is not a hardcore basher but holds up well, and another notes that the solid axle takes some skill to drive. One review was mainly about a missing dog bone part from a factory-sealed box and the retailer's customer service; the reviewer reported the retailer offered a replacement pin and block set. Reviews are short and few in number, so the sample is limited.
