To address Scott, this is differential oil, not shock oil. This is why the viscosity is so much heavier. You ONLY want to put this in your differential.
Got this for my SCX24 to apply a little into the shocks to make it less springy. When it came (t0day) it was less of an oil..and more of a hardened gel. Can stick my finger into it without it leaving any grease on my finger...Either its a bad batch or its next to worthless. Probably gonna end up just getting some heavy grease from autozone and add a little into the cap to slow the spring down.
To start off, this is differential oil. It will not work as shock oil or anything else. This is a very hard substance designed for large and powerful RC center differentials, to allow limited slip. It works exactly how it’s supposed to in my Sledge and Maxx.
Reviewers agree the product is a heavy differential oil intended for center differentials in larger Traxxas trucks, and two reviewers say it performs as designed there. One reviewer bought it to use in shocks on a smaller SCX24 and found it thicker than expected, describing it as gel-like, and called it poor value; that reviewer attributed the issue possibly to a bad batch. The reviews therefore differ mainly on whether the product suits the intended use. The buyer's complaint concerns use outside the stated application, so the mismatch is central to the negative review.
- + Heavy viscosity suited to center differentials
- + Works as intended in Sledge and Maxx
- − Too thick for shock use
- − Gel-like consistency reported on one unit
