About this part

Race Inspired Big Scale Monster Truck - 8S Capable!

The Traxxas XRT stands out as a remarkable monster truck, combining race-inspired design and engineering with the raw power and strength characteristic of the X-Maxx platform. Its low center of gravity, wide stance, and streamlined body contribute to unparalleled stability and control, enabling the XRT to reach impressive speeds of 60+MPH. The emphasis on speed and handling is evident in its performance-focused chassis design, carefully configured to lower the center of gravity for superior stability. The chassis also accommodates dual 6700 4S batteries (sold separately) and a steering servo strategically positioned to keep the weight as low as possible, enhancing overall performance.

About the XRT 8S

Design

Durability is a cornerstone of the XRT's design, featuring an all-metal 8s driveline that includes steel 4-gear differentials, steel driveshafts, and a high-strength extruded aluminum center shaft. This proven monster-truck tough drivetrain has its roots in the reliable X-Maxx platform, ensuring the XRT can withstand the rigors of extreme bashing. The inclusion of Gravix race tires further contributes to its durability, featuring a revolutionary hybrid design with densely packed biting edges and sipes for exceptional grip on hard-packed surfaces.

Electronics

What sets the XRT apart is its VXL-8S power system, already Traxxas' most potent speed control. The aggressive tune maximizes power output across the entire RPM range, delivering mid-range punch that results in rolling wheelies on demand. The responsiveness of the XRT is instant, with effortless acceleration at any speed. Using the 1275kV motor, the XRT is ready to blast to speeds over 50mph!

Clipless Body Mounts

The clipless body mounting system adds to its user-friendly design, allowing for easy removal and installation in just seconds while ensuring a secure and strong lock in place. The body itself is reinforced with a cage to minimize flex and external skids to strategically protect it during intense bashing sessions. Due to its fusion of race-inspired design, exceptional durability, and powerful performance. Whether you're pushing the limits of speed or navigating challenging terrains, the XRT delivers confidence and control, making it a top choice for enthusiasts seeking an adrenaline-pumping RC monster truck experience and one of the best big-scale bashers on the market!

This truck was hands down one of the best purchases I've made to date in the hobby. I've owned 150+ trucks over the course of 17 years, and I have to say this is in my top 5. I like this one more than my X-maxx from the stability standpoint of being able to throw it into turns, and it stays clean, not wanting to get out of hand. I have 10+ runs on it now, and I've only had issues with the pinion gear blowing apart. The stock pinion is very weak from Traxxas, and I'd recommend picking up a hardened pinion and spur gear for the thing. Steering is alright, maybe a tad on the slower side, but it's powerful enough to keep the wheels pointed in the direction you want. The power system in it seems plenty powerful, the ESC runs on the cooler side I've noticed while running on stock gearing. The motor however runs quite a bit warmer after about a 20-25 minute run on 8s 8400Mah SMC Batteries. I haven't had it shut down on thermal protection yet, but I definitely can't keep my fingers on the heatsink longer than 2 seconds after a run. If you've been kicking around the idea of getting an XRT I recommend it night and day!

If you thought about it enough to find this review buy it, so stable, practically hugs the ground it's a beast tho takes up space lol but man is it impressive flying through the air it's honestly really forgiving, because it has the power i'm not sure why it's a five and six skill level.like all traxxas rc I've owned it's built like a tank check the screws, check the screws.Check the screws

I have all of the 1/5 1/6 class trucks and this one is one of the baddest. Traxxas has a great way of making installing batteries and bodies simple, no clips anywhere. Truck is fast out of the box but as always I will be upgrading to get faster. Great buy

What reviewers say

All three verified reviewers rate this Green XRT 8S RTR highly and praise its stability, power and forgiving handling, including at speed and in turns. One reviewer compares it favourably with a Maxx model and notes it stays controlled through turns. Battery and body installation is described as simple. Steering is described as adequate but slightly slow by one reviewer. A recurring issue is the stock pinion gear, which one owner reports blowing apart after 10+ runs; that owner recommends a hardened pinion and spur gear. Reviewers also advise checking screws regularly. The truck is large, which one reviewer mentions. Sample size is small.

  • + Stable handling and good in turns
  • + Powerful and fast out of the box
  • + Simple battery and body installation
  • + Forgiving at speed and in the air
  • − Stock pinion gear reported to fail
  • − Steering slightly slow
  • − Large size takes up space
  • − Screws need regular checking
