I noticed that these ball cups were very hard. They seem to last, unless they come into contact with the rear wheel and then they wear down and need replacing. Ray has, like always, thought of ways to screw the customer yet again. How can we design the car in planned obsolescence in order to sell many ball cups for $7.99 for a 4-pack? Of course they would figure that one out just like the rest of the wimp car. Oh Ray, just keep f****** the customer!!!
The good is that they don't slop out quickly because the bad is that $2 a ballcup is just ridiculous.
I don't know this Ray fellow is the other reviewer is referring to, but sounds like a personal grudge. The fact is these ball cups are not cheap, at $2 a piece. However they last FOREVER. I've been racing a pair of XRAY buggies on carpet for over a year, and not a single ball cup has broken nor worn out. I can't say that for any other kit I've raced in my 30+ year hobby. These cups snap on with the perfect tolerance for free movement but no slop, and they stay that way over time. Basically the best you could ask for with a ball cup. Thanks XRAY!
Reviewers agree the 4.9mm closed composite ball cups are expensive at roughly $2 each, with the 4-pack priced near $7.99. Opinions on durability differ: one reviewer reports a year of carpet racing on two buggies with no breakage or wear and tight, slop-free fit, while another reports the cups are hard and wear down when they contact the rear wheel. A third reviewer notes they resist sloppiness over time but views the price as excessive. One review contains personal attacks on the manufacturer, which were disregarded. Sample size is small.
