I bought these to help keep my motor cool after i was having heat issues. These fans and heatsink brought my temps down my 25f to 30f. Im not kidding, they make that big of a difference. Especially if you run them at 7.4v. They are like turbines, blow alot of air. You can also upgrade the fans to the yeah racing aluminum fans if you end up breaking these stock plastic fans. I catch huge air when bashing and i had 2 fans break, the aluminum ones make this setup up bulletproof. You can also add the yeah racing fan cage to help keep out debris. I love these so much i have them on 2 of my Teknos and my Arrma. BEST FAN/HEATSINK COMBO MONEY CAN BUY. BUY THEM YOU WONT REGRET IT!!!!!!!!!!
Doesn't really fit most 520 sized motors (too long). Definitely doesn't fit a Tekin 520 size motor without making contact with the soldering points. I had to put some foam between the heatsink and the contacts in order to prevent a short. Even then it barely fit between the contacts and the motor mount as it was. Do not try to install this on a Tekno platform unless you are prepared to do some serious modification with a cutting wheel to make room for the center chassis brace. After all of the modifications I finally got this installed and on the first run both fans died. I put some Tekin fans on it (much sturdier) and even with those the temps did not drop at all. Which isn't really surprising considering how little contact this heatsink makes with the motor since mine has a built-in heatsink. Would probably work better on a flat-sided motor with some thermal interface material, but probably still not worth it.
This does not fit a Castle motor in a Tekno ET48. The Castle motor has built in heat sink ribs. I'm giving it 4 stars as it seams like a great product and I will keep it for a smaller diameter motor for a future build.
i Have the Yeah Racing 1/8 Twin Fan Aluminum Heat Sink w/ 2 Fans running on my v3 ARRMA KRATON and it gets the job done! I only use my KRATON for bashing and not speed runs so these fans get the job done! They hold up pretty well on big landings when bashing and thats the reason why I like them. The only thing is they don't put out a lot of air compared to the Game Changer fans out on the market..
These fans put of alot of air and do a GREAT job of cooling the motor. However, during my first test run with these fans, one broke in the first 10 minutes. I was not bashing hard, just going up and down the street, rolled over twice at slow speeds. Looking into upgrading to the aluminum fans but now I feel like I just wasted $30.
Reviewers report strong cooling performance, with one verified owner citing a 25-30 degree drop at 7.4V and praising the airflow. Fit is the main point of disagreement: several say the heatsink is too long for many 520-size motors, interferes with solder tabs or chassis braces on Tekno platforms, and does not fit Castle motors with built-in fins. Installation on an E-Revo 2.0 required removing the receiver box and modifying the bracket or connectors. The stock plastic fans are a recurring problem, with multiple reviewers reporting breakage or failure within one bash session or the first 10 minutes, and some recommend upgrading to aluminum fans. One reviewer reported vibration from unbalanced fans.
- + Strong cooling performance
- + High airflow
- + Good durability in bashing for one owner when upgraded to aluminum fans
- − Plastic fans break or fail quickly
- − Poor fit on many 520 motors and Tekno chassis
- − Installation requires modification
- − Unbalanced fans cause vibration
