Great litle fan , have used these for years High air flow and wide range of voltage
Surprised at all of the negative reviews, mines been great, only ran at 6v. Quieter than my 30mm at 7.4v - that thing screams and moves less air. 30mm fans are really pointless unless you don't have the space for a 40mm. I've been using this for 4 months, no issues whatsoever yet, maybe it only likes 6v. The people who had bad luck, why not return it?
Works as described on 8.4 volts Moves alot of air for it's size. I'm glad I'm not sitting next to it while operating. it's very loud. I wont be able to hear it over the sound of my 700 class helicopter, but it's going to keep my ESC cool, that's for sure.
Unfortunately, I bought 2 of these. The first one, the fan blades shattered themselves. Thinking it was my fault, I put in the second one (backup fan) and the same thing happened. These blades are junk. I usually don't like to write bad reviews but because of the money wasted, it was warranted.
Lasted for about 2 minutes then burned out. Gave off a weird smell and smoke.
Reviewers are sharply divided on this 40x40x10mm cooling fan. Positive reviews (three 5/5) describe strong airflow for its size, a wide voltage range, long use without issues, and good quieter performance than 30mm fans, though one notes it is loud at 8.4V. Negative reviews (four 1/5 and one further report of failure) describe fan blades shattering, units burning out or emitting smoke and odour within minutes, and a fan that did not turn out of the packet. The failures are the recurring problem, appearing in both verified and unverified reviews. One reviewer suggests the fault may relate to voltage, as their working unit ran at 6V, but this is not confirmed by others. All reviews refer to the same variant.
