Yeah Racing Dark Drifter 6-Slot LED Light Kit w/Lights

I bought this kit with the intention of putting lights into my Tamiya Super Coppermix S15 body I use for drifting. This kit is actually not bad. You get enough lights to wire it all in but on my body I also needed 3mm lights but I’ll get into that later. Each set of lights consists of TWO strands of LEDs that can be separated each other to create a symmetrical look or not. You do have four constant on and two flashing terminals to create a certain look. Love the constant on but never quite got the flashing bit to work… No matter because the kit works great except that it doesn’t quite work for my application. One gripe though is that no matter what light kit you get, the lead from the receiver to the control box always seems to be too short so my suggestion is to purchase a longer JST/servo extension. But that’s a universal problem with any light controller/kit on the market. I do have some other issues with this kit that are specific to this kit. First, it only features 5mm LEDs but for some Tamiya body sets like mine, they require 3mm LEDs too. Not a big issue but for me, it’s disappointing when you can’t actually buy 3mm lights to fit this harness, which leads into gripe #2. Second, Yeah Racing DO NOT make 3mm LED strands that will fit directly into the controller box. They do make 3mm LED strands but those are meant for Tamiya and Tamiya-style kits. Third, the harness WILL NOT fit FlySky NB4 receivers without re-pinning. Not the hardest job in the world (it’s only two wires) but it is a bit frustrating when you have the JST plug opposite of your receiver. Lastly, maybe I’d received a defective unit or maybe I’d done something wrong but I couldn’t get the flashing modes to work. Not a big issue for me but it seems a bit weird I can’t use the flashing modes it came with. Maybe it has to do with the terminals looking like they were smashed in/stepped on. Lights all work fine but the terminals being sunk in a bit was concerning. Overall, it’s the right part I needed to fulfill a need. It’s not the best kit out there but it is one of the best for a narrow budget. However, be prepared to modify parts where necessary. I would still suggest a Killerbody kit instead but if you just want lights in your drifter/tourer, this will do the job.

Did not work out of the package. Wasn't expensive so I took it apart and found a bad solder on the button wire. Fixed that but still not working. Took it apart so can't return.
