About the RD2.0 Pandem Drift Car

Chassis & Body

The Yokomo RD2.0 RTR Drift Car combines a robust chassis, sleek body design, and high-performance wheels and tires to deliver an exceptional drifting experience right out of the box. The chassis is built with a flexible resin double-deck structure, offering enhanced rigidity and durability while maintaining optimal weight distribution. Its height-adjustable oil dampers and angle-adjustable aluminum motor mount allow for fine-tuned performance adjustments, giving drivers the flexibility to adapt their setup for different surfaces and driving styles.

Topping the chassis is the eye-catching PANDEM GR86 body, pre-painted and ready to impress with aerodynamic styling and striking visual appeal. The drift-specific wheels and tires are engineered to maintain consistent grip and stability across various drift surfaces, ensuring smooth slides, precise control, and predictable handling during every drift session. Whether navigating tight corners or performing long sweeping drifts, the RD2.0 chassis, body, and tires work harmoniously to deliver a seamless and thrilling experience.

Electronics & Power

Equipped with beginner-friendly electronics, the RD2.0 comes with a reliable 27-turn drift motor and an efficient 2.4GHz transmitter/receiver system, providing seamless control and responsiveness even for novice drivers. The included ESC (Electronic Speed Controller) ensures smooth throttle modulation, a critical feature for precision drifting, allowing users to control their speed and slide angles effortlessly.

Powering the car is a rechargeable battery paired with a rapid charger, designed to minimize downtime between sessions. With quick charging times and long-lasting battery performance, drivers can spend more time on the track honing their skills and less time waiting for power. These electronics come pre-installed and pre-configured, ensuring that even newcomers can start drifting confidently right out of the box without the need for complicated setups or additional adjustments.

Handling & Drivetrain

The RD2.0 excels in suspension, steering, and drivetrain systems, ensuring superior handling, stability, and drift performance across various driving conditions. Its advanced 4-wheel independent suspension absorbs road vibrations effectively, maintaining maximum tire contact with the surface for improved traction and control. The height-adjustable oil dampers allow drivers to fine-tune the suspension stiffness and ride height to match their driving style and terrain.

The high-angle steering system allows for aggressive drift angles and tight cornering, giving drivers precise control over every maneuver, even during complex drift sequences. The four-gear transmission system enhances rear traction and throttle response, enabling smooth transitions between slides and powerful acceleration when exiting corners. Combined with turnbuckle-adjustable upper arms and tie rods, as well as universal shafts, the RD2.0 offers extensive adjustability to fine-tune every aspect of performance. This level of customization ensures that the RD2.0 remains a versatile and reliable choice for both beginners seeking confidence and experienced drifters aiming for precision and mastery.

Definitely iffy about this purchase, on one end the car indeed comes ready to run and so far I’ve been having fun driving it with its out of box alignment. Driving the car itself is challenging for new drivers but after an hour of driving it’s easy to learn throttle management and car control. BUT- my issues so far in the week I’ve owned it I’ve noticed the battery life is very short- I had a bolt under the chassis come loose and had to fix the steering rack, thankfully didn’t lose any bolts on the giant course I was at- the charger it comes with is soo cheap it’s basically useless, thankfully the customer support at Amain hobbies helped me figure out the charger mine came with was not charging correctly. The stickers on the body of the white GR86 I ordered were misaligned A LOT. The chassis for some reason came with a front bumper but no rear bumper and personally I believe the ride height is wayyyy too low and sadly it comes out the box with no way to adjust height. Even driving on pure flat surfaces if you brake hard enough the front of the chassis will scrape. Besides that it’s great for starting drivers and is “ok” for its price point. If you want something to just buy and go drive with friends then this is ideal… after you buy an extra battery or two so you can have more than 15 minutes of driving

Great first car with a few upgrades great car . I would highly recommend this vehicle for a person looking into rc drifting I bought a Traxxas 4 tec before this and that’s fully built this out beats that car in performance no issue

If you're looking to get into RC drifting this RTR is the way to go. This kit actually comes with everything you need (besides x4 AA batteries for the remote), unlike other "RTR" kits. Just charge the included battery with the included charger, plug it into the car, turn everything on and go! Out of the box this car slides well. No need to adjust the alignment or anything like that. You will likely have to adjust the gyro gain to your preference. If you've never driven a RC car with a gyro, it will take a bit to get the hang of how it drives. Trust me, this car slides well just keep at it.

What reviewers say

Reviewers generally find the Yokomo RD2.0 Rookie Drift RTR a good entry point into RC drifting. Positives include ready-to-run out-of-the-box handling, good sliding and alignment, and a learning curve that becomes manageable after some practice. One reviewer rated it highly, comparing favourably with a fully built Traxxas 4-Tec. Concerns raised by a single reviewer include short battery life, a loose chassis bolt and steering rack issue, and a charger described as inadequate, which they later said was resolved with manufacturer support. Reviewers note the gyro may need gain adjustment and that a gyro-equipped car takes time to learn. Reviews are few and the sample is small. All reviews concern the standard RTR variant.

  • + Ready to run out of the box
  • + Slides well with factory alignment
  • + Good for beginners learning drifting
  • + Includes most needed items
  • − Short battery life reported
