About the SO3.0
Enhanced Stability & Long Chassis Design
The SO3.0 features a longer aluminum main chassis, providing enhanced stability during high-speed runs and tight cornering. The extended wheelbase gives drivers confidence by improving ground contact and ensuring consistent performance on high-grip surfaces. Paired with strategically placed front chassis weights, this design propels the buggy forward through corners with exceptional control.
Low Center of Gravity for Superior Handling
Yokomo has engineered the SO3.0 with a low center-of-gravity motor mount and graphite shock towers to improve balance and agility. These features reduce roll and enhance cornering precision, giving racers the edge in competitive settings. The optimized design ensures the buggy maintains excellent aerodynamics, adding sharpness and control to its handling.
Durable and Responsive Graphite Components
Every detail of the SO3.0 is crafted for peak performance, with key components like suspension arms, hub carriers, bulkheads, and the gearbox molded from high-quality graphite. This lightweight yet durable material enhances responsiveness, allowing the buggy to react instantly to driver inputs. The use of graphite also ensures the buggy withstands the rigors of intense competition without sacrificing performance.

Very nice build quality from Yokomo but the instructions are not as clear as other kits. If you're an experienced kit builder you will understand but I could see beginner kit builders making mistakes in the build process as the instructions are hard to follow. That being said it is still a 2wd kit and a fairly simple layout, it would just be setup options that may challenge them. I have not had the buggy for long enough to break anything yet but all the parts carbon moulded plastic so the chassis does seem "stiff" well built. It turns very well and the drives are smooth. I installed the ball diff on mine and if you're looking to do the same my AE b6 series ball diff fits perfectly so you can use their after market options as well. I do not like how the front hinge pins are captured as it relies on the front bumper stopping them moving forward and a steel hinge pin brace that's not actually fixed to the chassis but overall it is very nice quality kit and performs great... Just as a update to this review and with more driving hours, in comparison to my Mugen msb1 this kit drives quicker and more consistent out of the box, I seem to be a second a lap quicker on average with the yokomo with both cars setup the same on the same track and still nothing broken yet. I've bumped it up from 4 to 5 stars on performance alone.
Kit is great, instruction are very very clear and well described when compared to my other AE or tam kits. Yokomo parts are very high quality, been running the car since release and its been a wonderful ride. This is my second one so far and plan on grabbing another. From my experience on low grip office carpet , stock tune is really soft so it could be stiffened up for high grip.
If i could give it 10 stars I would! Its fit and finish of parts and components is on par with Xray and personally I think a bit better especially on quality of plastics. Yokomo gives you pretty much everything needed in the box, chassis weights, swaybars 2 wings for both front and rear, fan mount! All you really need is the aluminum or steel front suspension arm mount and she's very durable as well! Highly recommend!
Yokomo's part's quality and fitment is second to none I can't believe now nice this kit went together
This is my first competition level kit and enjoyed the build. Everything went together well and the instructions are clear. It has a lot of setup options to dial it in for any track. I was very impressed with how smooth, precise and easy the steering bellcranks moved. I lost a shim and a spacer but was able to find replacements online. It's nice that the part numbers are listed next to each part throughout the instruction. As of now, I'm waiting for the parts that I lost. I can't attest for how it performs, but, by the looks of it, I'm quite sure I'll enjoy whipping it around.
All five reviews are five-star and praise the build quality and fit of the Yokomo parts, with reviewers comparing favourably to Xray, AE and TAM kits. Opinions differ on the instructions: two find them clear and well laid out with part numbers listed, while one reviewer, who is less experienced at kit building, found them hard to follow and expects beginners may make mistakes. Reviewers report smooth steering and drivetrain, a stiff chassis, and a generous included parts set. One reviewer notes the stock tune is soft on low-grip carpet and could be stiffened for high grip. One reviewer lost small parts during assembly and had to source replacements. Few reviewers have run the kit long enough to comment on durability in depth.
