First Flight RC Turbine Jet

So I actually bought this jet almost 3 years ago.

At the time I didn't quite feel ready to fly it then I had a kid and just never got around to finishing setting it up and learning the process.
So finally I got this jet setup and ready to fly. Yesterday I went out to my local field and had a very experienced RC Turbine pilot with all his proper requirements maiden my jet and get it all trimmed out.

The second flight of this jet was by myself on a buddy box setup. I had my main transmitter setup as the master with a trainer switch. I had my secondary transmitter setup only to use the control surfaces, as this is how I usually have it setup when I teach people how to fly.

First impressions! It was awesome, I was defiantly nervous but I am a pretty confident flyer. Defiantly helped to have an experience pilot and good two way communication. It flew very good! Bigger fly's better right! The biggest difference I noticed was the landing pattern. As my instructor pointed out, I was at first doing dog leg landings where on my downwind I was making one continuous turn to final which put me at a position where I was flying at myself and not allowing myself to see my speed well so I came in a little hot. My second attempt was much better, I had to fly out farther than I usually did so I could have a good base leg and make a nice slow descending turn to final. I was a little worried about the turbine lag but this thing is not a draggy airframe so it maintains speed well. My first landing was GOOD! Not perfect but Good!

My second flight I played around a little bit more just doing some figure 8's and rolls and what not, followed by some slow speed passes and another GOOD landing. It was an awesome experience and I learned a lot.

I like to fly aggressive electric sport jets and 3d prop planes and this was by far the most scale and realistic I had ever flown anything. The manual for this plane says to have your aileron throws very aggressive. I setup rates on separate switches for Elevator and Ailerons with the highs being the recommended and ended up using the Mid on Elevator and Low on Ailerons. I will defiantly probably turn it up a little once I get more flights on it and actually get my waiver, but the that wont be fore a few more weeks.

It was an awesome experience to finally fly a turbine and will be getting my waiver within a few weeks!
