These are an excellent alternative to the colored thin plastic slot car pinions. I found them extremely lightweight, spin true, and very quiet in 1/10 off-road buggy. Most importantly they are all black in color. The only reason I did not give five stars, the set screw is very small and in small piece of alum. You have to be very careful not to over tighten and break/strip. P.S The one negative review, these are for racing and not designed for crawlers. Use in the right application and these are fantastic.
It’s a pinion but it does sound different than a metal pinion. I am using it for a stock spec buggy. It works as it should it just sounds louder. I’m hoping it pays off at the track. I will have an aluminum pinion with me just in case.
Melted on my bench while testing it out. On a crawler. Plastic spur gear. Super thin and trash. Don’t buy
These seem great, I put them on stock class t7,b84 and b7.1. I only have a few packs on them but see no wear. They seem great so far.
Four verified owners rated these 48P composite pinions between 1 and 5 stars, with three reporting positive experience in racing buggies and one reporting failure. Reviewers praise the light weight, true spin, quiet running in an off-road buggy, and black colour. Several note the pinion sounds louder than metal and that the set screw is small and easily stripped if overtightened. One reviewer reports melting on a crawler with a plastic spur gear and advises against purchase; another notes the product is designed for racing rather than crawlers. Reviews cover 31T, 34T and 36T variants, and the 36T review is the only negative one.
