The set screw on these is smaller than on standard pinions. It uses a 0.05” hex wrench

Docking one star for the non-standard set screw size. Other than that for a stock class power level this is a great concept.

Previous review is spot on. Not loving the tiny 1.3mm hex set screw but I already had a 1.3mm driver so not a big deal. Also they are thinner than a standard spur. No problem with slow classes but I probably wouldn't use with mod... The nicest thing about these is that the mesh to your plastic spur makes the car SILENT! Also possibly the lightest you can get for that slight edge! One thing to be careful of, I got a pinion that was larger and very (too) close to the motor mount screws and my driver nicked a couple of the teeth on this pinion slightly because it's soft plastic... Still works fine but something to be careful of.

What reviewers say

Three verified owners rated the AM Arrowmax SL molded composite 64P pinion 4 to 5 out of 5. Reviewers agree the set screw is non-standard and smaller, using a 0.05 inch or 1.3mm hex driver, which one reviewer disliked but found manageable. Reviews mention the pinions are thinner than standard spur gears, suit slow classes, and run quietly with plastic spur gears. One reviewer said they would not use them in modified classes. Another reported that a larger tooth count sat close to the motor mount screws and that a driver nicked soft plastic teeth, though the pinion still worked. Reviews cover the 35T, 52T and 57T variants.

  • + Quiet running with plastic spur gears
  • + Lightweight
  • + Suited to slow or stock classes
  • − Non-standard, small hex set screw
  • − Thinner than standard spur gears
  • − Not recommended for modified classes
  • − Soft plastic teeth can be nicked by drivers
