About this part

This is a set of two JConcepts Rips 2.2 Front Buggy Tires. Steering control and consistency is one of the most important aspects of 1/10th 2wd buggy racing. JConcepts has optimized a 3 rib front tire design by altering the rib depth, attack angle and multiple radius corners to give 2wd racers a smooth new option. Tiny ribbing has been added on the upper sidewall to provide a fresh edge during hard and high impact corners. Already a proven tire, JConcepts Rips in prototype form were used to TQ at the Arizona State Championships and JConcepts Clash.

Features:
  • Compact tire body with optimized 3-rib design
  • Sharp attack angle ribs with multiple radius corners
  • Includes firm And-1 inserts

JConcepts Tire Compound Applications:

  • White (Medium): For High Temperature, Outdoor Racing. Intended for use on abrasive tracks.
  • Blue (Soft): All purpose compound. Excels in dusty, low bite conditions.
  • Orange (Soft): Intended for Black/Blue Groove conditions. Excels on Dry, High Temperature Tracks
  • Gold (Indoor Soft): Developed for indoor Clay surfaces.
  • Green (Super Soft): For conditions with minimum traction. Works well on slippery, wet tracks.
  • Black (Mega Soft): Recommended for conditions 59° and under, or extremely loose conditions.

Very nice tire for Kyosho's rerelease 2WD Turbo Scorpion with it's 2.2" wheels. This tire looks skinnier and has a slightly smaller diameter than the original Rere T-Scorp tire, thus providing a better retro look and lowers the otherwise high nose of this buggy. Those tires stick very well to any surface, hot/cold and wet/dry. Only in snowy conditions, the 2WD T-Scorp didn't handle nicely, but I have yet to find the 2WD front tire which works really in such special conditions. The main problem with the 2WD buggy is the fact that the front tires will clog up and eventually working like slicks... The 4WD doesn't have the same problems, the front tires are "shaking" off the snow from their profile the same as the rear ones.

Got them to run on a pretty loose outdoor dirt track, and the hold grip very well. Put a few hours through them and there's no sign of wear.

Use these on my b5m factory lites. These are excellent front tires for a gritty, dirty, loose home built track. They last a vey long time.

What reviewers say

Five reviews, all rating the tyres 4 or 5 out of 5, with four from verified owners. Reviewers agree the Rips grip well on loose dirt and gritty tracks and show little wear over extended use. Several note they are easy to drive and consistent. One reviewer running them on a Kyosho Turbo Scorpion 2WD praised the grip on most surfaces and the slimmer, lower profile for a retro look, but reported that the front tyres clog with snow and become slick-like in snowy conditions. Reviews cover different colourways (Blue, Green, Gold) and different chassis, including B5M, B6D and a Turbo Scorpion, so reports are not all from the same setup. Review count is small.

  • + Grips well on loose dirt
  • + Long tread life, little visible wear
  • + Consistent and easy to drive
  • + Good grip on most surfaces
  • − Front tyres clog with snow
  • − Lose grip in snowy conditions
