I got 14t, 15t, and 16t. They're nicely made pinion gears, but unfortunately they are not mod 1. Module system gears are easy to check: outside diameter equals (number of teeth + 2) times the module. The ProTek mod1 14t measured 17.00mm (not 16mm) and the 15t measured 17.93mm (not 17mm). This explains why the other reviewer observed poor fit with the Losi. For the sake of comparison, I have a few other actual mod 1 gears sitting here. The Tekno 16t measures 17.96mm (correct), Robinson's 16t is 18.00mm (also correct), Tekno 44t spur is 45.98mm, Arrma 24t is 26.00mm. In summary, these gears appear to be module 1.something. So if you need a mod 1 gear, don't buy this.

Do not fit Mugen MBX7 ECO in the shape of the teeth, the module is not m1. :(

Works great and as it should. Also priced right. Using on a Mod1 Team Associated setup and there are no problems. Wanted to leave the review to undo some damage by the low star reviews.

What reviewers say

Reviewers give this 5mm bore steel mod 1 pinion mixed ratings, with 5-star reviews praising strength, value and reliability in 1/8 scale and other applications. One detailed reviewer measured several sizes (14T to 16T) and reported outside diameters larger than mod 1 would produce, concluding the gears are closer to module 1.something and fit poorly with Losi and Mugen setups; a second reviewer reported a similar tooth-shape mismatch with a Mugen MBX7 ECO. Another reviewer reported the pinion sharpened quickly, and several reviewers wanted larger set screws for more torque. Several reviews are generic shipping comments or unclear, and reviews do not specify which variant each measurement applies to beyond the 14T to 16T gears.

  • + Strong, durable steel construction
  • + Good quality for the price
  • + Works well in 1/8 scale buggy, truggy and SC applications
  • + Fast shipping reported
  • − Measured module does not match mod 1 for some sizes
  • − Poor fit reported with some Losi and Mugen setups
  • − Set screw considered too small for high torque
  • − Pinion reported to sharpen quickly in one case
